The Ant and the Grasshopper

One summer's day, a merry grasshopper was dancing, singing, and playing his violin when he saw an ant
passing by, carrying food to store for the winter.

“Come and sing with me instead of working so hard,” said the grasshopper.

“I must store food for the winter,” answered the

Ant, “and I advise you do the same.”

“Don’t worry about winter! It’s still very far

away,” said the grasshopper while laughing at the
ant. But the ant didn’t listen to him and just
continued his toil.

When winter came, the starving grasshopper went

to the ant’s house and humbly begged for
something to eat.
“If you had listened to my advice last summer, you wouldn’t be asking for food from me,” said the ant.
“Sorry but I can’t help you since I only have room for food for me and my family. I’m afraid you would
have to go find help somewhere else.”

“I should have followed the ant’s advice,” said the grasshopper to himself.
