 The computer system:
A computer system is the combination of hardware and software. A typical
computer system has memory and set of states that define the relationship between
the system inputs and output.
 Types of computer :
Computer can be generally classified by size and power as follows, though there
is considerable overlap:
 Personal computer: A small single user computer based on a microprocessor. In
addition to the microprocessor, a personal computer has a keyboard for entering
data a monitor for displaying information and a storage device or saving data.
 Workstation: A powerful, single –user computer. A workstation is like a personal
computer, but it has a more powerful microprocessor and a higher – quality
monitor.

 Minicomputer: A multi –user computer capable of supporting from 10 to 100 of
users simultaneously.
 Mainframe: A powerful multi- user computer of supporting from 10 to 100 of users
simultaneously.
 Super computer: An extremely fast computer that can perform 100 to Millions of
instructions per second.

 Part-III

Paint is a drawing tool you can use to create simple or elaborate drawing. These
drawings can be either black and white or colour, and can be save as bitmap files, you
can paint your drawing, use it for your desktop background, or paste it into another
document. You can even use paint to view and edit scanned photos.
WordPad allows you to create more complex documents giving you most of the
capability of a word processor. You can change the font entire document or just a word
within it. With the click of a button you can insert bullets into text n WordPad or align a
paragraph to the right or left. All of this formatting is saved with your document so no
matter who ones it, it will appear as you creates it.
Word processors provide even more text formatting option, such as automatically
numbering lines of text creating columns or inserting frames.
