“Clicktivism”Slacktivism means the self-deluded idea that by liking, sharing, or
retweeting something you are helping out.There are two misunderstandings about it that
it doesn't do anything and it replaces offline activism.One of the main ways to spread
ideas is using hashtags.A false claim begins on private networks such as WhatsApp, then
moves to online conspiracy material. where it is picked up by a credulous journalist for a
major publication, and it hits thousands, if not millions, of people.There's quite a lot we
don't know about how clicktivism spreads ideas. “But what we do know is that
clicktivism can and does work – and it’s often far more sophisticated and hidden than
many people realize”. (Paragraph 9) so, we can say that clicktivism is the fastest way to
spread ideas to increase user engagement.
