INVITATION TO SUPPORT
The 13th Annual InterSpeech Conference will be held September 9 13, 2012 at the Hilton Hotel and Executive Towers in Portland, Oregon, USA. It is being hosted by the Center for Spoken Language Understanding under the sponsorship of the International Speech Communication Association, ISCA. In the tradition of InterSpeech, InterSpeech 2012 emphasizes the interdisciplinary nature of speech research, this time further broadening its scope to also include applications to biomedicine and health. In 1989 in Paris, the first EUROSPEECH bi-annual meeting on spoken language processing was organized. It was alternated with ICSLP, its non-European counterpart. In 2004 these events were merged into an annual InterSpeech conference, designed to advance language processing and speech technology. The stature of the conference has grown in importance each year as the field has matured and it is now the worlds largest and most comprehensive technical conference focused on speech and language processing and its applications. The 2011 meeting in Florence, Italy, had over 1300 participants, the largest ever. We anticipate that the 2012 conference will bring together well over 1000 of the leading names within the international speech community including promising young researchers, representatives of community associations and members of the corporate sector.
QUICK FACTS

InterSpeech conferences include papers on all the scientific and technological aspects of speech and language processing. Several satellite workshops and exhibits from industrial and academic sponsors highly enrich the conferences content. InterSpeech papers are indexed in ISI, Engineering Index, Scopus, and Google Scholar. InterSpeech is rated as a Rank A conference by the Computing and Research Education Association of Australasia (CORE).

International Speech Communication Association
www.ISCA-speech.org ISCAis a non-profit organization. Its original statutes were deposited in Grenoble, France, on March 27th, 1988, by Ren CARR. The association started as ESCA (European Speech Communication Association) and, since its foundation, has been steadily expanding and consolidating its activities; it has offered an increasing range of services and benefits to its members and it has put its financial and administrative functions on a firm professional footing. Indeed, over the ten years of its existence, ESCA has evolved from a small EEC-supported European organization to a fully-independent and self-supporting international association. The purpose of the association is to promote, in an international world-wide context, activities and exchanges in all fields related to speech communication science and technology. The association is aimed at all persons and institutions interested in fundamental research and technological development that aims at describing, explaining and reproducing the various aspects of human communication by speech, that is, without assuming this enumeration to be exhaustive, phonetics, linguistics, computer speech recognition and synthesis, speech compression, speaker recognition, aids to medical diagnosis of voice pathologies.
