Aunt Rhody visited all the usual places she
always went to on her Africa trip and was happy
to see old friends again. But she also felt the
need to see something new. She had never been
to the North of Africa, to the ancient pyramids,
the royal tombs of the Pharaohs.
She would go to Egypt and she decided she
would travel in style, like the natives did.
She joined a camel train and departed on the
long journey north.
Each night they stopped to rest and one evening
around the camp fire, the leader of the group,
one Zilman-al-Janin, gathered the travellers
together and began to make music.
Tante Rhody besuchte die ihr schon so lange
vertrauten Orte und freute sich an den
Begegnungen. Nun flammte ein neuer Wunsch in
ihr auf. Sie hatte noch nie den Norden Afrikas
besucht: Ägypten, mit seinen alten Pyramiden,
den Königsgräbern den alten Pharaonen!
Sie dachte, „am schönsten wird sein, wenn ich
reise wie in alten Zeiten.” Sie suchte eine
Karawane und machte sich auf den langen Weg
nach Norden.
Jeden Abend bauten die Reisenden die Zelte für
die Nacht auf und setzten sich um ein Lagerfeuer.
Eines Abends sammelte der erfahrene
Karawanenführer Zilman-al-Janin seine Gefährten
um sich und sie begannen zu musizieren.

Once upon a time there was a lady Es war einmal eine neugierige Dame,

called Aunt Rhody, I don’t know die Tante Rhody genannt wurde; ich
