Course Description

employment as a highly skilled hairdresser, working as part of a salon team or coordinating a salon team; a technical adviser with a hairdressing products company; or independently as a freelance session stylist. Functions at this level include the self-directed application of a broad range of knowledge and skills and the provision of technical leadership, training and support to colleagues. A hairdresser at this level may provide specialist services, including haircutting, hair design, hair colouring, complex colour correction, hair extensions, and chemical reformation, and trichologist and make-up application.

Qualification
Students successfully completing the course will receive the Nationally Accredited; WRH 40109,Certificate IV in Hairdressing.

Teaching Methods
This program is delivered in a classroom based environment with a training salon setup for practical components of the course. Training will be conducted in both the classroom and the salon environments. The delivery may include face to face teaching, lectures, discussions, workshop activities, field trips, research; computer based tasks, home based learning activities group works, supervised practical sessions.

Admission Requirements and Prerequisite


Applicants must be at least 18 years or over. Academic Requirements To gain entry to this course, participants should have successfully completed year 12 or secondary studies in applicants home country equivalent to an Australian Year 11* or 12 qualification. (*Subject to the Country Assessment Level) Mature age students will also be considered without minimum education requirement but with relevant work experience within chosen area of study and a demonstrated capacity to meet course requirements. Candidates are advised tosubmit relevant work experience evidenced by work reference letter on company letterhead; work samples; and curriculum vitae. English Language Requirements An English Language profiency level of one of the following: - IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent internationally recognised exam result in line with DIAC regulations; - Satisfactory completion of the ESL Course/English language course or satisfactory completion of 5-10 weeks ELICOS from a National ELT Accreditation Scheme (NEAS) Accredited English Institution with an IELTS score of 5.0

Assessment
The assessment process will include theory and practical assessments. Assessments may comprise of written assignments and project works. Assessments may also include observations, portfolio of evidence, third part reports and workplace projects.

Career Opportunities
After completing the Certificate IV in Hairdressing, WRH 40109; this course enables you to develop skills to become a Salon Owner, Salon Operator or as a sales consultant for hair products or as a Hairdresser Trainer.
