The main idea of paragraph 5 is “Television will discourage and replace reading.”

The text genre is expository text.

3) What is the purpose of the author?


The purpose is to present information in a balanced, detailed, and objective way and to
explain events that happen as a direct result of other events.
This expository text about the negative impact of TV on kids also educates the reader about
many different perspectives on the topic as well as provides ample evidence and facts to
support the topic.

4) What is the text structure?


The text structure is cause and effect. The structure of this text contains the causes of
watching television for children, actions that must be taken, evidence and facts presented to
support the author's statement. The text explains how kids watching television can have
negative effects on their development.

5) What are the signal words to define the text structure?


These are several words that indicate the text has a cause/effect structure:
 The word “because” in 2nd, 4th, and 6th paragraph.
 The word “therefore” in 1st and 7th paragraph.
 The word “reasons why” in 7th paragraph.

The purpose of the author is to share and explain information about the historical events of
the Majapahit empire according to the sequence of events and time sequence.

Narrative text structure uses a story structure that includes story elements such as setting and

lastly re-orientation.

Setting: Majapahit Empire 13th – 16th century.
Characters: Vijaya, Jayakatwang, Hayam Wuruk, Gajah Mada.
 Complication
Conflict: The founding of the Majapahit empire, the golden era, and the end of its era.
 Resolution
Plot: rising action in 1st paragraph, climax in 2nd paragraph (when Majapahit reached its
golden era and had many territories), falling action in 3rd paragraph.
 Re-orientation
The Majapahit historical story's final condition includes the characters, place, and time
mentioned in the last paragraph.
