Part 3 «Biopolymers and their structural components»

Class № 9.
«Biologically important heterocyclic compounds. Nucleic acids».

Questions and tasks.

1. Learn the structures of 5-membered ring and 6-membered ring heterocyclic

compounds with 1 or 2 heteroatoms and their derivatives: vitamin РР and
its role, vitamin В6 and its role, xanthine, hypoxanthine, uric acid. Learn the
information about gout.
2. Learn the structures of pyrimidine and purine nitrogenous bases. Learn the
information about their tautomerism.
3. Draw the diagram of the polynucleotide chain fragment with the sequence of
nitrogenous bases “adenine-cytosine-thymine”. Is it a fragment of DNA or
RNA? Why?

TEST 3
Set №0
1. Write the formula of the tripeptide Ala-His-Phe. Write the amino acid
phenylalanine in the ionized state (in neutral, acidic and alkaline
conditions). Write about the levels of the protein structure.
2. Write the structure of maltose. Explain why this disaccharide is
reducing. Write the diagram of its tautomeric transformations.
3. Heterocyclic compounds and their derivatives.
4. Draw the fragment of a trinucleotide with the sequence of nitrogenous
bases “cytosine-uracil-adenine”. Is it a fragment of DNA or RNA? Why?
5. Write the structure of a phospholipid which includes the residues of
palmitic acid, linoleic acid and the amino acid serine. Write the reactions
of the acid and alkaline hydrolysis for this phospholipid. Name the
products of these reactions.
6. Write about: steroids, the structure of sterane, the structure and functions
of cholesterol and bile acids, conjugated bile acids.
