=======================================================================
1) Consider a particle moving in a straight line, and assuming that its position is defined by the
equation. 𝑠 = 6𝑡 2 − 𝑡 3 Where, t is express in seconds and s is in meters. Determine the
velocity and acceleration of the particles at any time t. Calculate the values of displacement s
and velocity v when acceleration is zero. (12.5 points)
2) The acceleration of a particle is given by, 𝑎 = 4𝑡 − 30 where 𝑎 is in meters per second squared
and t is in seconds. Determine the velocity and displacement as function time. The initial
displacement at t=0 is so=-5m, and the initial velocity is vo=30m/s. Find the displacement,
velocity and acceleration for t=0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. (12.5 points)
3) The acceleration of a particle which is moving along a straight line is given by 𝑎 = −𝑘√𝑣,
where 𝑎 is in m/s2, k is constant and v is the velocity in m/s. Determine the velocity as a
function of both time and displacement (position). Evaluate your expression for t=2s and at
s=3m. (12.5 points)
4) The acceleration of a particle is given by 𝑎 = −𝑘𝑠 2 where 𝑎 is in meter per second squared
and s is in meter. Determine the velocity of the particle as a function of its position s. Evaluate
your expressions for s=5m if k=0.1m-1s-2 and initial conditions at time t=0, so=3m and
vo=10m/s. (12.5 points)
