Interview and learning outcomes:

For the first question he responded with a simple explanation with deep insight that a team
has a common goal or purpose they work towards where as a group may not necessarily have
it which shows a team shares a deeper rapport amongst each other.
Conflict being natural part of any team a leader manages it effectively to maintain
productivity , strategies for it are promoting active listening and mediating with respectful
communication without hindering ones individual perspective in organization.
When asked about group decision making , the main point he raised was a diversity of ideas
and perspective always shows him quicker progress especially in a state of crisis and rather
than dissenting opinions its important to seek each and every perspective for the same.
With this he mentioned group cohesion which he maintains with a degree of connection and
personal relation, because a bond of a manager and team sometimes hinders free
communication and can make it difficult for a fellow colleague to share his or her distress.
A few simple strategies he mentioned for team building are post meeting discussions ,
dinners with the team and setting clear and concise goal and expectation with each employee
to best utilize their strengths. Diversity within a team can bring a range of experience and
sometimes make communication difficult but this can be tackled with giving each employee
their own space and the result shows increased creativity and innovative ideas and as such a
new employee must always break a cultural barrier which as a manager he felt was his duty
to guide through.
A group members behaviour directly impacts the team because one negative can lead to
domino effect and hence he always prefers to work in a relaxed environment in a common
meeting room rather than delegate tasks via email.
A major question of dealing with someone more experienced than him in age etc , he replied
to dealing with them by letting them take lead in their expertise and giving them the heads up.
The act of showing respect for a team member irrespective of age or experience for their
skillset can lead to more efficient and hands down work. A group holds themselves
responsible and accountable when each feel ownership risk and personal bonds within the
team and as such a close knitted environment as a manager is what he aims to create within
his team.
Overall he believed all management issues are corelated and don’t always have a common
solution even a similar problem requires different approach with different people and as such
just keeping your head cool and proper communication is the best a manager can do to lead
by example.
