1-INTRODUCTION

IELTS

International English Language Testing System

Proficiency Test for Non-Native Speakers (Those countries having not English as the native language
have to write the for IELTS to study)

Created by Cambridge

(Types and Categories)

1-(IDP and British Council) just to take the test in various countries or conduct the Test in various
countries you can choose any of them. (both are same)

2-Academic and General Training

(Study and work while going for abroad)

(Paper and Online) which one to choose depends on you I would recommend go for paper one)

Scoring or Bands (Module and Overall 9 BANDS) (SKILLS 1-L-2-R-3-W-4-S)

(BANDS AND CEFER)

(Listening and Reading)

40 Questions

1 point for 1 Correct answer

If you make it 40 out of 40 in listening so you will get the 9 bands. Incase you make it 39 out of 40 so
you make it 8.5 bands for Reading if you make it 39/40 so you will get still the 9 bands as per marking
or bands scheme

(Writing and Speaking)

Both have completely different Criteria.

4 Criteria

Such as one of the criteria for writing is the vocabulary so means the best vocabulary is used the more
bands will be awarded or the better vocabulary you write the highest marks you score.

Speaking on of the criteria is the Fluency so the more fluent you are the highest marks you get so
there are more there so when we combined them they create scores

Choosing the Material to be used

Never use online material or Books

They are horrible the reason is that they are not connected to Cambridge so the Best book is the
official Cambridge to IELTS OR Guide to IELTS which has everything

The second book which is required is the Best Books to Practice is series which is called

Cambridge practice tests for IELTS series

Which is 1 to 14 as per sir it is recommended to be from 9 to 14 for IELTS Practicing

As per just watch these videos and practice the above two books are more than sufficient

5-TEST FREQUENCY

1-ACADEMIC

It is conducted 48 times a year which means 4 times a Month

2-General Training

It is conducted 24 times a year which means two times a month

I recommend that you can write as manway times as you can or want but should take it as soon as
you get very less marks just try to identify your weakness and then go for it again while it is improved

6-MODULES

The building block of the whole exams

Need to evaluate all the areas in English

4 Modules which would be in exam step by step 1-Listening 2- Reading 3-Writing 4-Speaking

1-Listening

You will hear some audio for 30 minutes so there will be breaks in the middle and there will be 40
questions in it and base on this audio you will be answering the questions but you have to answers
the questions while listening to the audio.

2-READING

In reading you will be given a question paper in which you have some passages and also some
questions so you have to read the questions and find the answers for those questions form reading
those passages so it will have also 40 questions

3- Writing

In writing we need to do two things

Task-1

For Academic you need to write the Report

For General you need to write the Letter

Task-2

For part tow you have to write the easy so no different for both of them.

The total time for both the task would be 60 minutes

This is considered a bit difficult task by sir

4-SPEAKING

So this would be formal interview or kind of test which will take 11-14 minutes and this part will be
taken on the different day however the other three will be taken on the same day 1 Listening2-
Reading 3-Writing for all the three there will be 2.45 two hours and 45 minutes and the speaking test
will be taken on the different day just like before or after 5 days so you will get the message for it
either 2 to 3 days

7-RESULTS

Once all the tests are written than after 13 day you get the result of your scores

You can cheek it on the website by entering your registeristion number or of course you can get an
email that the result is out please cheek it

The hard copy will take time just like will take 30 days

8-PASSPORT

I have seen plenty of people crying for it

It is must for Registration of the IELTS in case you are not having it so you will not be able to write the
test so as you are giving the test for going abroad so not having passport how would you go abroad
1-LISTENING MODULE –STRUCTURE AND GRADING

First Module tested in the exam and you will get the mini breaks between each Modules.

Such as when the listening is over so you will be provided with the reading module it is not just like
you will be given all the modules.

1-Sequence

So it was the answer sheet. You will listen to the audio and than will fill the answer sheet.
2-Structure

So overall 40 questions and there will be 4 sections which means each section will have 10 marks and
one thing to be noted that the difficulty level increases with the each and every section such as the
section would be looking easier as compare to the section 2 than section 3 will be difficult as compare
to the section-3 and so on.

You will get the 30 minutes of audio and then you will get 10 minutes to transfer answers.
The 30 minutes time you will continually listening but with the breaks and form these audios you will
have to find the answers while looking at the questions paper.

It means that while listening to audio just make answers in the questions sheet and then the 10
minutes of the time you need to transfer the answers in question you made while you were listening
to it now transfer it to the answer sheet.
3-Example

Now this is the question sheet so while listening to the audio you just need to write the answers in
the question sheet
Sir played the real audio related to this sheet and I fill and the blanks for it while I was listening to the
audio.

These are the answers for the questions provided by sir

And the short and long one are all corrected which ever you choose so could give the answers for it
such as we have M/or Metter or wide etc which ever one you choose would be right.
