You really should see a doctor! laugh “everyone loves Professor Smith's lessons. Even you, he says. He is right, of course. | do like Professor Smith's science lessons. Everybody does. He makes science fun. ‘The science labs are empty. There are two and we walk through them both. In the first one, there are microscopes on the desks, ready for a biology lesson. In the other there are no microscopes but there are lots of posters on the walls. One is the periodic table. There are others of insects and one of the human body. Ilike learning about anatomy but I don't like insects. When I see the poster of giant spider I'm happy that I didn't have breakfast after all. Sam calls out for the Professor but there is no answer and we walk through the chemistry lab to his office. The Professor's door is always open but today it is closed. ‘As we get closer the door opens and the Professor walks out. CHAPTER 1 itis Professor Smith but he looks very different, Before, his shirts salways perfectly ironed and his grey hair was combed, clean wer and cut short. But now, his hair is long and dirty. ‘What's happened to Professor Smith?’ whispers! Sam. ‘He was always very tidy. He looks like he needs a shave! ‘He smells like he needs a shower, | whisper back. ‘{zzie! Don't be horrible! Maybe he isn't feeling well. ‘Maybe! ‘what do you think it is? He continues to look around nervously. When he sees us, he jumps and I realise that he is scared. Not of insects, like me.
