What is Biophilic design?

Biophilic design means how it can connect human to nature in this modern urbanized
world where we are spending a lot of time in inside or indoors these are the
concepts that can push architecture further to collaborate with nature and bring
nature to our indoor which will not only improvise the sense of that space but also
help us build a better indoor environment for human well-being.

AIM:

With the advent of urbanization, humans are progressively disconnecting from

nature. Due to this design disjunction, biophilic architecture seeks to re-
establish a connection between humans and nature through.

Bringing nature into built environment so that's into our

° Homes
° Public spaces
° Work spaces
° Healthcare spaces

OBJECTIVES:

Biophilic designed buildings incorporate things like natural lighting and

ventilation, natural landscape features and other elements for creating a more
productive and healthy built environment for people.

SCOPES & LIMITATION:

Biophilia has a great potential to be explored in

Architectural context. The framework proposed has
evolved a systematic procedure for conversion to practical
recommendations, but lacks the detailed analysis and
application of the framework during a design process.
It is crucial for the policy makers, planners and designers to adopt the proposal
and modify it according to their
respective domains, testing its applicability and generating
a modified framework taking it a step closer to practical
application.

METHODOLOGY:

Experiences and Attributes of Biophilic Design though 3 types of principles

1. Direct Experience
of Nature

• Light
• Air
• Water
• Plants
• Animals
• Weather
• Natural landscapes
and ecosystems
• Fire

2. Indirect Experience
of Nature

• Images of nature
• Natural materials
• Natural colors
• Simulating natural
light and air
• Naturalistic shapes
and forms
• Evoking nature
• Information richness
• Age, change, and
the patina of time
• Natural geometries
• Biomimicry

3. Experience of
Space and Place

• Prospect and refuge

• Organized complexity
• Integration of parts
to wholes
• Transitional spaces
• Mobility and wayfnding
• Cultural and ecological
attachment to place

With this principles we can achieve experiences and Attributes of Biophilic Design.
