Ss = students; S1=student one; S2=student two; T= teacher


- Because Ss’ level is unknown, teacher will have to gauge and modify difficulty level accordingly. At the basic level, games/activities can be
conducted on the level of letter recognition. At an advanced level, games/activities can be conducted on the level of CVC words.

T puts appropriate letter cards on the floor of an adjacent classroom. T
assigns Ss in teams, one S runs and one S writes. T calls either a letter
or a CVC word, the runner runs into the room and grabs the right card
(either the letter or the beginning/ending/middle sound, as T decides),

Balderdash then brings it back to the writer. The writer has to write the letter (in 15
both capital and lower case). When the writer finishes, they raise their marker/chalk
hand and shout OK. *T should try to say the letter only to the runners,
so that the writers cannot start writing before the runner returns with a
letter card*
