AO CMF Asia Pacific

Young Surgeons Professional Development Program

Basic aims: The aim of this program is to provide a financial support for young surgeons (senior
trainees and less than 2 years of practice) in craniomaxillofacial surgery from Asia
Pacific region to participate in the educational activities in any of the approved AO
CMF Fellowship Centers in Asia Pacific.

Prerequisite: 1. An AO CMF member (become a member)


2. Employed by a teaching institution is preferred
3. Less than 2 years of practice after residency

Organization: The program will be for one-two (1-2) weeks as determined by the host AO CMF
Fellowship Center. The fellow will participate in all formats of teaching done in the AO
CMF Fellowship Center, such as lectures, workshops, discussions, live surgeries. The
fellow may be required to present a research paper in a format/ schedule dictated by
the AO CMF Fellowship Center.

If the fellow participates in operative procedures, the legalities and specific privileges
must be arranged by the local host. The fellow should provide a health certificate
proving negative test results for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and TB.

The fellow shall arrange the accommodation, and transportation by himself/herself.

Stipend: The stipend of each fellow is 500 Swiss Franc per week, which includes
accommodation, and meal expenses. The fellow shall provide their own travel
expenses that he/she can arrange individually.

Application The AO CMF AP Young Surgeons Professional Development Program will be

by the host AO CMF Fellowship Center in Asia Pacific.

Applications will be reviewed and recommended by the Committee on Training and


Research of the AO CMF Asia Pacific Board and should be approved during the
regular/ scheduled meeting of the Board.

Insurance: AO CMF will not be liable for any untoward events that may happen during and after
completion of the program. Neither AO CMF nor host hospitals will cover the young
surgeon’s insurance against illness or accidents during working hours nor non-working
hours. The fellows are strongly recommended to arrange his/her own insurance as
well as mal-practice insurance before leaving his/her country.
