1. Define Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway

Use

You can define storage type search sequences for putaway. Storage type search sequences are
required for the putaway process and for warehouse rearrangement.

Putaway process

The storage type search sequence in the putaway process specifies in which storage types the
system searches for destination storage bins. The system creates a preference list that contains
the sequence of storage types and storage type groups it should search with priority for
destination storage bins.

• Goto Define Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway

• Click on New Entries
• Enter the value in:
▪ Warehouse No.
▪ Storage type search sequence
▪ Description and save it

2. Assign Storage Types to Storage Type Search Sequence

Use

In this Customizing activity, you assign the required storage types to the storage type search
sequences

Putaway process

Enter the storage types in which the system should search for destination storage bins for the
relevant storage type search sequence.

Slotting

Enter the storage types that slotting should search for the relevant storage type search sequence.

• Goto Assign Storage Types to Storage Type Search Sequence

• Click on New Entries
• Enter the values in:
▪ Warehouse No.
▪ Stor. Type Srch Seq.
▪ Storage Type

3. Define the Putaway Control Indicator

Use

You can define putaway control indicators. You can use putaway control indicators to control
that during putaway, specific products are put away into specific storage types/storage type
groups with priority.

You can also assign a storage-type search sequence to the putaway control indicator. This
storage-type search sequence is not relevant for determining destination data during warehouse
task creation.

Activities

Classify your products according to specific criteria, for example, small parts or products for the
bulk storage area. Create your putaway control indicators with corresponding descriptions.

• Goto Define Putaway Control Indicator

• Click on New Entries
• Enter the values in:
▪ Warehouse No.
▪ Putaway Control
▪ Description
▪ Stor.Type Srch Seq.

4. Specify Storage Type Search Sequence for Putaway

Use

You can specify the storage type search for the storage type search sequence during putaway.

The storage type search sequence defines the storage types in which the system searches for
destination storage bins, and the sequence in which they are sorted or prioritized.

The storage type search that you define here refers to a storage type search sequence (storage
types in which the system searches and in which sequence) and to a putaway rule.

• Enter the values in:

▪ Warehouse Process Type

5. Optimize Access Strategy for Storage Type Search: Putaway

Use

You can optimize the access strategy for storage-type searches during putaway.

Various indicators influence the storage type search. If you use the putaway strategies from the
product master, and the products appear with different stock types or are managed in special
stocks (such as sales order stock), then the number of required entries in the storage types
search table can be overly large.

6. Assign Putaway control indicator to Product Master

PUTAWAY CONTROL

Indicates how you want to control the putaway of certain products in certain storage types in a
preferential manner.

USE

You specify how you want to control the putaway of the respective product in the product master.

• Goto /N/Scwm/Mat1 Transaction code

• Enter the Product number, Warehouse no and Party Entitled to Dispose
• Click on Change – If the Product is already maintained or Click on Create to
Create the product
• Goto Whse Data Tab
• In Putaway Control field enter the Putaway control indicator
