Instructions:
Welcome to your no-prep therapy kit for improving descriptive vocabulary skills by describing the smell of
ten different objects upon request including at least two adjectives per object.
1. Print this packet, write the goal at the top of each section, and put it in the client’s folder or
notebook.
2. Work on the first phase in therapy.
3. When the client has mastered that phase, take out that page and send it home as homework.
4. Work on the next phase in therapy while the parents are reinforcing the previous phase at home.
5. Re-print this packet and start again for the Client’s next goal.
Therapy Overview:
1. Name Things that are _____: Client will name at least three objects that fit a specific smell
adjective (such as stinky, sour, sweet) for nine different adjectives
2. Yes/No Questions about Smell Adjectives: Client will answer yes/no questions about specific
adjectives (such as “is it bumpy?” or “is it hot?”) with at least 80% accuracy.
3. Expressive Use of Smell Adjectives: Client will describe the smell of ten different objects upon
request including at least two adjectives per object.
Additional Information:
● Once the client has completed these phases for one of the five senses, go back and target others.
Once the client’s adjective vocabulary has caught up to age-appropriate, you can target other types
of vocabulary that the client needs to focus on.
