①First impressions count and a poor first impression may be made if

editors and reviewers find grammar errors in the manuscripts you submit

for publication. ②Effective use of grammatical resources helps us to

produce clear and unambiguous writing. ③This workshop will begin by

examining some examples of academic writing. ④We will then discuss

and apply a two-level proofreading strategy to the texts under

consideration: first at the level of the whole text to identify sections in

need of reformulation rather than correction in order to improve the

overall meaning of the text, and second at the level of the sentence to

detect and correct any small grammar or punctuation errors. ⑤The

workshop will be a practical session and will provide you with skills to

overcome common problems and ensure successful publication.
