ABSTRACT

This project aims to create a portable and efficient heart rate monitoring system using
readily available components and the Arduino Uno R3 SMD. The system incorporates a
Max30100 Pulse Oximeter, a small buzzer, an OLED display module, male-to-female
jumper wires, a mini breadboard, and a 9V battery for power supply. The project design
centers on the functionality of the Max30100 sensor to detect and measure heart rate and
blood oxygen levels.

The male-to-female jumper wires are used to establish connections between the various
components, enabling data transfer and power distribution. A small buzzer is integrated
into the system to provide audio alerts or notifications, ensuring user interaction and
timely alerts.

The Max30100 Pulse Oximeter serves as the primary sensor for measuring heart rate and
blood oxygen levels, providing accurate real-time data. This information is then displayed
on the OLED display module, offering a convenient visual interface for users to monitor
their vital signs.

The integration of an Arduino Uno R3 SMD serves as the central processing unit to
manage sensor data, control the display, and manage the system's overall functionality.
The 9V battery is utilized to power the system, ensuring portability and making it suitable
for various environments.

The resulting system presents an affordable, user-friendly, and portable heart rate
monitoring solution, suitable for personal health tracking or as an educational tool. The
development process involves sensor integration, data processing, and user-friendly
output, highlighting the potential for broader applications in healthcare, fitness, and
wellness industries.
COMPONETNS USED

1. Male to Female Jumper Wire

Male to female jumper wires are
essential components in our
project, serving the purpose of
establishing electrical connections
between various electronic
components. These wires enable us
to connect sensors and modules to
the Arduino Uno, facilitating data
transfer and power supply.,

2. Buzzer (Small)
The small buzzer in our project acts
as an acoustic feedback
mechanism, capable of producing
audible alerts or sound
notifications based on heart rate
data or specific conditions detected
by our monitoring system. For
instance, it can emit a beep or tone
when the heart rate surpasses a
predefined threshold.
3. MAX30100 Pulse Oximeter (Heart Rate Sensor Module)
The MAX30100 is the central
sensor module in our heart rate
monitoring system. It plays a
pivotal role in measuring heart
rate and blood oxygen levels.
This sensor module utilizes
photoplethysmography (PPG) to
detect changes in blood volume,
enabling us to monitor a user's
pulse and oxygen saturation in
real-time.

4. 170-Point Mini Breadboard

The mini breadboard is a vital platform
for our project, as it simplifies the
process of prototyping and connecting
electronic components. It allows us to
neatly arrange and connect the
MAX30100 sensor, display module,
Arduino Uno, and other components in
a structured and reusable manner. The
breadboard streamlines the wiring
process and ensures stable connections
between components during testing
and development.
5. OLED Display module 4 pins(0.96 inch)
The compact 0.96-inch OLED
display module with four pins is a
central component of our heart
rate monitoring project. It provides
a clear and concise visual interface
to access real-time heart rate data
and other relevant information.
With its low power consumption
and excellent visibility, this OLED
display enhances user experience
and ensures that vital health
metrics are readily accessible.

6. 9V Battery (for power Supply)

The 9V battery serves as the power
source for our heart rate
monitoring project. Its portable
and compact design ensures
mobility and flexibility, making it
suitable for wearable applications.
This battery provides the necessary
electrical energy to operate our
components, including the Arduino
Uno, sensors, and the OLED
display.
Its reliable power supply is
essential for the continuous and
uninterrupted functioning of the
heart rate monitoring system.
7. Arduino Uno R3 SMD
The Arduino Uno R3 SMD is the
central processing unit and
control hub of our heart rate
monitoring project. This
microcontroller board is at the
core of our system, responsible
for collecting, processing, and
transmitting data from various
components.

Equipped with a versatile array of digital and analog

input/output pins, the Arduino Uno R3 SMD enables seamless
communication and coordination between the MAX30100
pulse oximeter, the OLED display module, the small buzzer,
and other peripheral devices. Its compact and robust design
makes it suitable for integration into our wearable heart rate
monitoring device.
Arduino board is the heart of our IoT-based monitoring system,
where it plays a pivotal role in processing the sensor data in
real-time. It interprets heart rate measurements obtained from
the MAX30100, presents the data on the OLED display, and can
trigger the small buzzer for audio notifications based on pre-
defined conditions. Its adaptability, ease of programming, and
compatibility with a wide range of sensors make it an essential
and versatile component in our project.
