My whole walk he followed me in that truck. When I Got to my destination he got out of the truck
"hey my name Marquis I Wanna talk to you.
I looked at him and he was fine and dark skinned. With a whole bunch of tattoos on his arms

I took His Number And We Went Our Separate Ways
Later That Night Another Car Pulled Up To Me And This dark skinned buff guy walked up to me and pushed
me behind a tree I knew exactly who it was My Ex boyfriend Dominique.
D: Imani you ain't getting away from me no time soon.
I Tried to run but Dominique grabbed my arm so hard. He Pushed me on the ground.
I Screamed but no one was around so no one heard my screams.
It was dark and the street lights on that street didn't work so it was pitch black.
And Just Like That He Beat me up right then and there.
Afterwards He got in his car and drove off
I sat behind the tree crying my eyes out .
I took out my phone and dialed a number

When I Woke Up The Next Morning Marquis wasn't in the bed. I got up and brushed my teeth and washed my
face.
When I walked downstairs and saw Marquis cooking in the kitchen.

The Next Morning I woke up to cook breakfast and Marquis came downstairs fully dressed
"Where you going baby?" I asked him.
"I gotta go handle some business" he replied while kissing my forehead

"I'll be back in a couple of hours" He said walking out the door
I was sitting down watching Tv. Marquis had been gone for 3 hours. my phone rang. I was hoping it was

"Hello?" I Asked
"May I speak to Ms. Imani" the voice on the other line said
"This is she" I replied
"Hi, this is Grady Memorial Hospital calling and we wanted to notify you that Marquis has been shot" The
voice said
My jaw dropped. I hung up the phone and ran and got dressed
I hopped in the car and drove way over the speed limit. I was running red lights and stop signs
When I got to Grady I parked the car and ran into the Emergency Unit
I Walked up to the desk
"Marquis Thomas" I said notifying the receptionist that I needed his room
"Maam , wait in the waiting room. He is in surgery right now. We will call you as soon as he is in a room"
I walked to one of the chairs in the waiting room. I was shaking, I was so scared. I prayed that he would be
alright.
45 Minutes Later:
The doctor walked out
"Family of Marquis Thomas" the doctor said
I walked up to him, This short chubby lady came and stood by me.
"Hey darling. you must be Imani, Marquis talks about you all the time"
"yes Maam."

"well I am Marquis' mom. My name is Kim" She said sniffling, You could tell she had been crying
"Hello, my name is Dr. Brown and Marquis is in critical condition, he took 4 shots. One to the arm. Two to
the leg, One to the chest."
"Okay, can we go back and see him?" I asked
"Yes he is in room 432, On the fourth floor" the doctor said.
"Okay thank you" his mom said
Me and his mom got on the elevator and went to the fourth floor.
When we got to his room and braced myself and tried to hold back tears.
We walked in the room and saw Marquis laying in the bed helpless.
I couldn't hold back the tears any longer. He was hooked up to all these different machines.
He had a feeding tube in his nose. He looked horrible
I walked over to his bed and grabbed his hand
"Hey baby" I said hoping he would respond
"Hey baby girl. stay strong for me" He said in a raspy voice
I was shocked he replied. I kissed his forehead and walked out the room to let him and his mom talk.
I couldn't let him see me cry. I was a hot mess.
I sat down on the floor in front of the room door crying my eyes out
"I'll see you later baby" Ms Kim Said while she was crying
"Okay bye"
She bent down and gave me a hug
"Everything is going to be alright. Its in Gods hands" she said trying to comfort me
She walked away and got in the elevator.
I saw a girl walking down the hallway but I didnt pay her no mind. She walked up to me:
"Excuse Me" a ghetto girl voice said
I looked up and it was some girl.

"I need to go see Marquis" She said
I got up and let her in the room thinking it was his sister.

I walked over to her and tapped her shoulder . She turned around and gave me this stank look

"Who are you and why are you kissing him"

I gave her the evil eye. I think as Marquis heard baby daddy he woke up.
"Tyra get out of her man" Marquis said
"Marquis who is this" Tyra said looking me up and down.

When she was walking out she bumped my shoulder

I grabbed her hair and threw her on the ground
"Mani stop" I heard Marquis say.
I stopped punching her and I got up. She laid on the ground helpless . I kicked her in her head.

It was 2 Am and I Had Just Got Home . It Was Dark In The House I Tried To Be Quiet And Sneak In .

"Okay" She Said Getting Up And walking Upstairs
I Followed Behind Her
She laid in The bed and went to sleep
I had a feeling she wasn't gonna let this go
I got in the shower for 20 minutes .
I put on my boxers and got in the bed .

It has been 2 weeks since i have seen Marquis. I was serious this time I was through with him. I was going to
have this baby on my own and if he wanted to see her he could but if he doesnt want to see her I have no

I was going to my doctors appointment today to see how Sariyah Was Doing.
I had got my own apartment and I was living on my own. Me and honey had become close. She would come
by like everyday. She was coming to my doctors appointment with me today.
I texted her "Goodmorning girlie, Meet me at the doctors office at 2:30"
She texted me back 5 minutes later "K"
I got out of my bed and did my hygiene thing.
I got in the shower for about 25 minutes.
I got out of the shower and walked into my closet to find something to wear.

I drove as fast as I could to the hospital. Even though me and Marquis are not together I still had love for him
as the father of my child.
When I got to Grady Memorial I parked my car and ran into the hospital. I could feel tears forming in my
eyes.
As soon as I ran into the automatic doors of the hospital I saw Sadique standing next to the front desk crying
her eyes out. I ran up to her and hughged her.
"Where Is he? Is he alright?" I asked
"He just got out of surgery, he's not doing too well. The doctors are trying their best to save him."
We Walked over to the waiting area. Sadique layed her head on my shoulder and fel asleep.
1 Hour later
"Family of Marquis' A doctor said
Me and Sadique and by that time Marquis' mom had gotten there, We all walked up to the doctor. He had a
folder in his arm.
"Im sorry to say but Marquis did not make it" The doctor said with a straight face
I fell to the floor. I cried my eyes out, I couldnt process this feeling. The Feeling of losing the love of my life
and the worst feeling is we were on bad terms.
Sadique stooped down and hugged me.
"I gotta go" I got up and walked out the hospital crying like I have never cried before.
I walked to my car . I drove home in silence, the only sound that could be heard was the sound of my cries.
I pulled into the apartment complex and got out of the car and walked to my apartment. I think Sariyah knew
what was going on because she was kicking wildly and that broke my heart.
I walked in the apartment and went straight for the bed. I cried all night thats all I could possibly think of
doing.
1 Week Later
I have been crying all day and night since Marquis died. But today I had to get out of the house. because
today was Marquis funeral.
I got out of the bed and did my hygiene thing and I got in the shower for 45 minutes. The hot water hitting my
skin felt like a relief.

I got out of the shower and got dressed in my all black outfit.
About an hour later I was walking out the door on my way to the funeral.
I got to the funeral and everbody was there.
When I got out of my car Cartier ran up to me
"MOMMYYY!" She Said jumping on to me.
That broke my heart. She still called me mommy even though I havent been around.
I picked her up and walked to my seat on the front row. About a half hour into the service I went up to
Marquis' casket and placed a rose onto it and I felt a gush and I felt water run down my leg.

I could feel water running down my leg.
I heard every one in the background gasp. Mama Kim ran up to me
"Somebody call 911, shes in labor"
Mama Kim took me over into a seat and made me sit down
By the time the ambulance came I was in pain. I was feeling contractions.
The EMS came and put me on a gurney. The put me in the back of the ambulance and rushed me toward the
hospital.
Once we got to the hospital the nurses hooked me up to everything.
About 30 minutes later Mama Kim and Sadique walked into the room.
"My Niecy is coming" Sadique said walking in smiling
I was in so much pain I couldnt even say anything back. The contractions were kicking my butt.
I was waiting on the epidural.
About a hour later the anesthesiologist came in and gave me my epidural.
After the epidural I didnt feel anything.
About 8 Hours later I was 10 Centimeters dialated and it was time to push.
Mama Kim held one leg and Sadique held the other since they were the only 2 here for me.
After about 30 minutes of pushing I finally heard the sweet cries of my baby girl Sariyah Amarie.
She was born at 6 Pounds 15 Oz and 22 Inches long at 6:49 PM on September 29, 2014
They laid her on me After they had cleaned her up and everything. I looked her and smiled and cried at the
same time. My baby girl was so beautiful she looked just like me, but she had a little bit of her daddies genes
in her too.
Sadique walked over to me "My niecy pooh"
I handed Sariyah to Sadique . The look in Sadique's eyes was so special. I could tell she could see Marquis
all over Sariyah . By the way she looked and the things she did . I could see tears begin to form in her eyes .
Sadique walked over to Mama Kim and handed the baby to her.
Mama Kim looked at her and smiled. "She's Beautiful Imani" She Said still looking at Sariyah.

Today Was The Day Me And Sariyah Were Going Home from the hospital. I was excited finally get to be
home with my baby girl.
I was getting Sariyah dressed and Mama Kim Walked in. She and Sadique were going to be driving me
home. They are about the only family I have out here in Atlanta.
The nurse walked in the room and handed me my discharge papers.
I put Sariyah in her car seat and the nurse walked in with a wheel chair and we walked out of the hospital.

It was 2 O'Clock In the morning and Sariyah was cryng for food. I picked her up out of her Bassinet and got
back on the bed.
I put her lips against my nipple and she started to suck. I looked down and I could see Marquis all over her

I could feel the tears welling up in my eyes. I missed him so much.
I feel bad because when he died we were on bad terms.
Sariyah finished eating and I burped her and she was fast asleep. I took her and put her back in her Bassinet.
