Household Budget Allocation – Middle Income

The pie chart illustrates the household budget allocation of middle-income families in
2012 and 2015. In 2012, the cost of living budget is divided almost evenly. In 2015, it changes
significantly.
In 2012, the budget for housing, food and clothing, vacation and leisure, and
miscellaneous things does not fall far from each other. Housing takes up only thirty-five percent
of the monthly budget. Food and clothing are equal to what is spent on vacations and leisure,
which is at twenty-five percent. The remaining fifteen percent is allotted for miscellaneous
necessities which is a good thing considering that all basic needs were already taken care of.
In 2015, there is a significant increase in housing and food and clothing cost. Housing
cost increased by fifteen percent taking the entire half of the monthly budget to itself. Food and
clothing rose from twenty-five to thirty-five percent. The remaining fifteen percent is either used
for vacations, leisure activities, and other miscellaneous necessities.
To conclude, as years goes by, the cost of living continuously rises that middle-income
families for the lack of options, has to adapt and/or find other means of coping up with it.
