Q.1. Check graphically whether the pair of equations x + 3y = 6 and 2x – 3y = 12 is consistent. If so,

solve them graphically.

Q.2. Which of the following pairs of linear equations are consistent/inconsistent? If consistent, obtain
the solution graphically:

िन रै खक समीकरणों के यु ों म से कौन से यु संगत/असंगत ह, यिद संगत ह तो ाफीय िविध से हल ात कीिजए।

(i) x + y = 5, 2x + 2y = 10 (ii) x – y = 8, 3x – 3y = 16

(iii) 2x + y – 6 = 0, 4x – 2y – 4 = 0 (iv) 2x – 2y – 2 = 0, 4x – 4y – 5 = 0

Q.3. Solve 2x + 3y = 11 and 2x – 4y = – 24 and hence find the value of ‘mʼ for which y = mx + 3.

Q.4. The taxi charges in a city consist of a fixed charge together with the charge for the distance
covered. For a distance of 10 km, the charge paid is ₹105 and for a journey of 15 km, the charge paid
is ₹155. What are the fixed charges and the charge per km? How much does a person have to pay
for travelling a distance of 25 km?

एक नगर म टै ी के भाड़े म एक िनयत भाड़े के अित र चली गई दू री पर भाड़ा स िलत िकया जाता है। 10 km
दू री के िलए भाड़ा ₹105 है तथा 15 km के िलए भाड़ा ₹155 है। िनयत भाड़ा तथा ित km भाड़ा या है? एक
को 25 km या ा करने के िलए िकतना भाड़ा दे ना होगा?

Q.5. Five years hence, the age of Jacob will be three times that of his son. Five years ago, Jacobʼs age
was seven times that of his son. What are their present ages?
