INTRODUCTION 1.1 GENERAL CONSTRUCTION Parallel Helical Geared Motors are designed, manufactured and tested to high quality levels with 2 & 3 Stage configuration. These speed reducing Gearboxes offer high load carrying capacities, high efficiency, quiet running and reliability. Individual casings are provided with Breather Plug, Drain Plug and Oil Level indicator. All Geared motors can be supplied as Foot, Flange, face and Torque Arm mounted with Solid and Hollow output shaft, Shrink disc, Hold Back, Brake Motors are come under Additional features. 1.2 DESIGN FEATURES Gears * Helical gears are made from high-grade case hardening alloy steel ‘Designed to transmit high torque and power. Guidelines for Selection 3.1 Service Factor table Tables given from page nos 17 to 36, give the details of torque raling, output speed / ratio, ofall sizes of geared motors / gear units in our production range. 3.1 Service Factor For deciding the proper size of gear unit portion of the geared ‘motor, a suitable service factor is to be considered over the motor power. For finding out the service factor, mechanical service factor fy and frequency starts factor f , as given in Table 1 & 2 respectively are taken into consideration. Mechanical service factor 1, as per Table 1 is 2.00 for type of load H and 24 hours service per day. For 10 starts per hour, factor Fis 1.06 (from Table 2) Thus, service factor, required = 2.00 x 1.06 = 2.12. Step 2 Refer to power rating table against 5.5 KW motor power and look for the listed output speed, nz. near to the required value of 100 rimin, We get Geared motor size PBS063-A132 with nz = 99 r/min, with SF = 1.5 which is less than the required S F of 2.12 Next we find that size PBSO73-A132 with n2 = 102.8 r/min with SF =26 is the right size of Geared Motor. All bearings of electric motors and the bearings used at the output shaft extension fend and in the adaptor flange at the input side are grease filed at our factory and need not require any further grease filing at the time of commissioning, We recommend the use of mineral oll with viscosity ISO - VG 320 to in the ambient temperature range of 0 to 50°C. Detais of oil grades of popular brands are given below. The appropriate oil quantity for different sizes and ‘mounting positions as per the table given below.
