You are seeking guidance on the support package and patch options available to you for your SAP HANA 2.0 Cockpit
installation.

Solution
SAP is committed to delivering innovations and supporting its customers by shipping regular new functionality, corrections
and updates for SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit and all its subcomponents, including the database explorer and SQL analyzer.
Terminology
The SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit install comprises XS Advanced, a set of XSA multi-target applications, and HANA Express. A
single HANA 2.0 cockpit can administer and monitor many SAP HANA database systems, including both SAP HANA
SPS12 and SAP HANA 2.0 systems.
SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit periodically releases Support Packages (SP’s) which include new functionality as well as fixes
and security patches. Each SP includes all the features of the previous SP.
SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit also provides patches for the most recently released SP, which include fixes and security patches.
Once a new SP is released, SAP provides no patches for earlier SPs.
SAP HANA Platform periodically releases Support Package Stacks (SPS), which introduce new capabilities into SAP
HANA. A new SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit SP is released as part of each SAP HANA Platform SPS, but additional SAP HANA
2.0 cockpit SP’s may be released between SAP HANA Platform SPS’s.
SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit SP’s and patches are available from the SAP Software Downloads site in the support packages
and patches section, under SAP HANA Platform Edition 2.0. Each item is named “SPNN PatchMM for SAP HANA
COCKPIT 2.0” where NN represents the SP number and MM represents the patch number.
You can apply a patch or SP to any earlier installation of SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit.
You do not have to align releases between SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit and the SAP HANA systems it administers and
monitors. SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit can administer and monitor SAP HANA databases from SAP HANA 1.0 SPS12 or later.
SAP recommends that you consult the SAP Note for each SP release, accessible from the SAP HANA 2.0 Cockpit Central
Release Note (see below), as you define your upgrade path.

SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit SP’s and patches are available from the SAP Software Downloads site in the support packages
and patches section, under SAP HANA Platform Edition 2.0. Each item is named “SPNN PatchMM for SAP HANA
COCKPIT 2.0” where NN represents the SP number and MM represents the patch number.
While the database explorer and SQL analyzer software is released separately, it is shipped along with the cockpit
software. When you install the cockpit, you automatically have access to the database explorer and SQL analyzer
subcomponents.
Compatibility
You can apply a patch or SP to any earlier installation of SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit.
You do not have to align releases between SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit and the SAP HANA systems it administers and
monitors. SAP HANA 2.0 cockpit can administer and monitor SAP HANA databases from SAP HANA 1.0 SPS12 or later.
