Success Story
Background
A paper manufacturer founded in the early 1900s and
based in the Midwest was having problems with a paper
sheeter. It was an older model paper sheeter and they
were using a nylon machine tape on it.
Solution
Habasit offered HAT-5E as a test belt for the sheeter.
The End User ran it on the outside of the sheeter to make
sure it preformed properly. The HAT-5E has a dimensionally
stable polyester fabric instead of nylon, which allowed for
longer life and less downtime. The test belts ran straight
through the summer months with no failures! The End
User was extremely happy with the switch and has had
no belt related downtime on this sheeter since. We did
caution them that the difference in using a polyester belt is
that it is not as forgiving when jams occur and there could
be potential problems with the belt snapping if the jam
exceeds the maximum allowable tensile force of the belt.
The End User was not concerned with this as this sheeter
did have sensors to detect jams and does not have the
high speed runs that some others did within the plant.

Problem
The nylon fabric would stretch due to the humidity in
the plant. The elongation was worse during the summer
months and caused jams in the sheeter which created
downtime on the line.

Did You Know?

Did you know that Habasit offers both Edge Capping
and Flexseal? Both are ways to edge seal a belt.

A Flexseal machine mills through both fabric layers

completely from the pulley side. This leaves a groove
that is then filled with a TPO or TPU strip. The entire
depth of the groove is filled. Not all Habasit belts can
be edge sealed using the Flexsealing process. Features and Benefits

Habasit America Customer Care Profile

Miguelina Garcia
Miguelina has been a Customer Care Representative at Habasit for 8 months. Miguelina
had ten years of customer service experience prior to coming to Habasit, though this is her
first time assisting customers via telephone. Miguelina enjoys her work as it gives her a
chance to work with people.

In her spare time, Miguelina enjoys spending time with her family, reading to her children
(Isaac 14, Jeremiah 7, and Isabella 5), and discovering new places. Miguelina would also like
to work on her Masters degree so she can be more of an asset to Habasit.

Miguelina takes life one day at a time. When she has a bad day, she reminds herself that
there will always be another one tomorrow. “You need to enjoy what you have because there
are millions of people that would love to be in your position.”
