We did it. We have a fresh new year to look forward to but let's have one last salute to
2023. Our recipe would be ideal for a New Year's Eve champagne supper but some of us
(like me!) will proabbly have it for lunch and miss the merrymaking at midnight
altogether.

However you celebrate, we hope it's been a good (or at least, tolerable) year and we
can't thank you enough for spending a good part of it with us.

I've been following Taffy Elrod on social media for a while but I think I noticed her sharp,
insightful messages mostly during the pandemic. As we were all trying to figure things
out, she was a constant source of sanity. We were thrilled when she agreed to
collaborate on some recipes for us.

From Taffy: "I couldn't resist this play on caviar and potatoes, even though that's not my
usual style. A little whimsy is worth it in this case because the results are delightful. They
are good served hot or cold. If you want to assemble them in advance, wait to add the
seaweed sprinkle until immediately before serving so it stays crisp."

Recipe: BLACK CAVIAR LENTILS AND POTATOES WITH
CRÈME FRAÎCHE

12 small red potatoes, about 2 inches each Preheat the oven to 375˚F. Oil a baking
1 tablespoon neutral oil sheet. Cut the potatoes in half lengthwise,
1 teaspoon sea salt (divided use) and trim the rounded sides so they sit flat.

Eater explains How Butter Beans Went From Gross to Glamorous and we were on hand
to help. There is this odd social media trend of English girls and butter beans, but be
aware, they don't realize that butter beans are limas and if you want to replicate their
creations, use Ayocote Blanco or Royal Coronas. Limas would be terrific but different.

My favorite quote about the English girl and butter bean trend is this: “It’s a very English
thing. I think we have a very positive association with beans because of beans and
toast.” I don't think so, but beans are beans and there's joy in spreading that love
around.

on @Threads. We're still short followers from Twitter, but
the conversations are much more interesting, and so far,
