PARENTS ONLY Materials and Set Up: Print Clues #1-5 Scissors Pencil or crayons Toilet Paper Tube Special Treat (snack, coins, coupon for something special) Goal: Your children will solve five clues to get the code and unlock a special treat. Clue # 1 Print and cut out the clue. Follow the directions to wrap it around a toilet paper tube. This is the first clue you will hand to them to get started. (Answer:3) Clue #2 - Use the alphabet chart to solve the puzzle. Find the number word and use it in the code. Idea: Rip the chart into 4 pieces and hide those pieces around the room. Hand your kids the puzzle to solve and tell them to decode it they need to find a chart in the room. (Answer: 6) Clue #3 Find how many differences there are between the two pictures. That number is part of your code. This clue can be crunched into a ball and hidden or the two pictures can be cut apart and hidden in different locations. (Answer: 5) Clue #4 Print the puzzle and cut it into strips (along the lines). For younger children, you can put numbers 1-10 on the strips as an extra clue to help them solve it. Once the puzzle is solved, ask them to count the number of trees in the puzzle, That number is needed for the code. (Answer: 4) You can hide these pieces around the room or hide them as a bundle in one spot. Clue #5 Read each of the clues to your child. Follow the directions to cross off different pictures. The last picture that is left is a number for your code. (Answer: 8) Enter the Code to Unlock the Lock Once all of the clues are complete, enter the number from each clue onto the lock page to find the code. Tape the strips (in order) around an empty toilet paper tube. 4, Make sure they are loose enough to be able to turn around the tube. 5. Mix up the pieces so you can't see the number word. 6. Depending on the age of your children, tape the first and last strip in place to get them started.
