In a milestone move in 2003, JUBILEE GENERAL became the first Pakistani insurance company to acquire
a foreign entity by taking over the Pakistan operations of Commercial General Union. Additionally, in
collaboration with AKFED, JUBILEE GENERAL gained majority control of CU Life Assurance Company of

HR PROCESS:

The HR department undertakes a range of functions to manage human resources effectively. These
encompass Human Resource Planning, which involves Recruitment, Selection, Hiring, Training,
Orientation, Evaluation, Promotion, and Layoff. Additionally, the HR team oversees Employee
Compensation & Benefits, Performance Management, and Employee Relations. Through these
processes, the goal is to guarantee that every employee contributes their best to fulfill their
responsibilities, and JGI is committed to ensuring that none of its employees harbor negative sentiments
toward the organization. Employee well-being, particularly in terms of career development and training,
is of utmost priority for JGL.

JOB ANALYSIS:

Job Analysis is the detailed process of identifying job duties, requirements, and their relative importance.
JGI utilizes interviews and observations, consulting with line managers to assess job needs and preparing
analyses. Job descriptions and specifications are already streamlined, with a minimum graduation
requirement for all positions and mandatory master's degrees for senior and executive roles.
JGI's branches across Pakistan are interconnected through a centralized HR department. When a branch
needs to hire, HR assesses the requirement, and the branch head suggests 2 to 3 candidates. While HR
often hires recommended candidates, it's not obligatory. Identifying employee needs across branches is
a challenge, relying on branch input while HR retains decision-making authority. All branches must
adhere to the organization's hiring policies.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS:

Recruitment at JGI involves attracting, screening, and selecting qualified individuals. The company
ensures equal opportunities, barring discrimination based on gender, race, religion, language, and caste.
While there's a preference for candidates under 28 for entry-level positions, last year's financial crisis led
to branch mergers. Despite surplus employees and financial challenges, JGI avoids layoffs, opting to
utilize existing staff when needed, without external recruitment for vacant positions.

CREATING CANDIDATE POOL:

Following analysis, JGI establishes candidate pools, utilizing newspapers for executive and senior
positions and their website for other roles. Web-based portals streamline resume collection, and
headhunters are engaged for executive hires, ensuring a diverse pool. Matching criteria and job
descriptions with candidate information is crucial. While experience is valued, fresh candidates are
preferred for junior roles like data entry and assistant supervisors.

Data gathered from the web-based portal is securely stored, enabling efficient and timely recruitment.
For specific hires, such as an IT manager last month, JGI employed the services of HRS Global as a
headhunter.
