6) APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

6.1 SURFACE PREPARATION:

a. A preliminary inspection has to be carried out in order to verify the following points:

i. Requirements according to Steuler-KCH Technical information no. 010

ii. Corners 45° angle for 2 cm.
iii. Concrete curing from casting completion date 15 da ys minimum, residual

or tiles. Furadur Cements cure at normal ambient temperatures without subsequent heat
treatment. To attain a better resistance to solvents, subsequent heat treatment is, however,
recommended.
Furadur Cements display resistance to acids, alkalis, solvents, greases and oils as well as
conditiona l resistance to oxidizing agents.

Max. Service temperature: 160°C; after heat treatment, 180°C.

Instructions:

Bedding:
App ly the Furadur Cements to the substrate or, particularly when lining vertical surfaces, to the
bricks or tiles to be laid. The thickness of the bed should be at least 4 mm but no more than 10
mm. Where a thicker bed is necessary, first trowel-apply a layer of cement to the substrate. The
thickness of this layer must not exceed 10 mm. A total bed thickness of 15 mm. max. is
permissible.

Jointing:
Then smooth the material before it has had a chance to cure using a jointer. Joints should have a
minimum width of 4 mm (ideal is 6 - 8 mm). The joints between the fields are closed after
termination of the first curing phase (usually after 1-2 days). Therefore, there will be no effect on
site progress.

VISUAL INSPECTION: Visual inspection of the lining surface to de termine presence of

imperfections such as voids, cracks or bubbles.

THICKNESS MEASUREMENT: Wet film thickness measurements have to be carried out on

the fresh material during the application of Oxydur ES. The nominal thickness is 2.00 mm; under
thickness up to 35% is acceptable.

8) REPAIR WORK

For small patch repairs, less than 50 cm², the concerned areas shall be ground to the substrate and
beveled as much as possible at the borders by means of using a right angle grinder with rough
grind ing discs. Remove dust and re-apply as per the original instructions. Make sure areas for
overlap are properly beveled and primed. Allow the lining to cure and retest the repaired area.

9) SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

 Mix and apply material only in well ventilated areas.

 Provide all the safety hardness to the workers that specified in the safety data sheet.
 Provide ventilation suited to the conditions when working in pits or tanks.
 Do not smoke. Do not expose materials to heat or open flame.
 Do not carry out any welding work in vicinity of the actual work area (welding beads).
 Avoid direct contact with skin or eyes.
 Wash hands with soap and water; do not clean the skin with solvents.
 Use barrier soap and protective creams on exposed skin areas.
 In all other respects comply with the relevant regula tions for prevention of accident.
 Refer to the safety data sheets.
