Advice
We have noticed an increase in the number of failures coming from the speed
sensor, 3583286M1, 3796040M1, 3790881M1 and 3583285M1.
We are constantly seeking to improve our products. This is why we are looking into
the possible causes of this failure in order to take the necessary measures.
Parts returned to us are analysed in our laboratory and in many cases we have not
been able to reproduce the error.
To help us with this issue, we request that the diagnostics tests detailed in the
following instructions are carried out before replacing the component.
Please do not hesitate to notify us of any details regarding the error which may be
significant (e.g. Applications: Only with a loader, transport etc.).
We are sure that you will understand that to obtain as much information as
possible, this request is mandatory and that warranty payments will not be
guaranteed if the warranty claim report (last page of the bulletin) is not attached to
the claim.
If a part is changed after an error code occurs, please send us an error report from
the Wintest or EDT diagnostics software, depending on the tractor model. For more
information on the save procedure, refer to service bulletin TRAC56/10.
This request is mandatory in addition to submitting the test sheet.
An additional 30 minutes of labour time will be paid to carry out the diagnostics
tests and to fill out the form using repair time code 14 00 90 - see service bulletin
ADMIN 06/08.
We are counting on your assistance in this matter and thank you in advance for your
co-operation.

Diagnostics
Checking Procedure
Before testing the speed sensor, check the value in the corresponding icon with the
Wintest diagnostics tool.
Sensors information:
Forward speed is showing in tenths of kph and controlled by this tab:
CAUTION: For Dyna-6 tractors fitted with a speed radar, the speed displayed on the
DCC2 originates from two different sources:
• between 0 kph and 2 kph and between 25 kph and maximum speed, the
speed displayed is the theoretical speed sent by the forward speed sensor
TR4
• between 2 kph and 25 kph, the speed displayed is the actual speed, as
measured by the radar
Therefore, if there is a problem with the speed display in the 2–25 kph speed range,
it is possible to compare the theoretical speed and the actual (radar) speed in the
DOT MATRIX hidden menu. This then allows any problem with radar functionality to
be identified.
The intermediate speed is showing on Rpm and verify by this tab.
The intermediate speed must equal to the engine speed in ratio D for Dyna-6 and in
ratio C for Dyna-4
The engine sped is showing on Rpm and verify by this tab:
Page 6 of 9 TRAC 43/08
When the PTO is activated, the PTO speed sensor must be equal to engine speed.
Comparison of these two speeds is used to detect PTO clutch slip.
Checking
• If the values are correct, the problem is not due to the sensor.
• If the values obtained by Wintest are incorrect, Wintest does not detect a
value or if the problem is intermittent, test the sensor using a multimeter (see
Sensor Test). If the resistance value obtained by the sensor when stationary is
incorrect, replace the sensor and attach the test sheet at the end of this
bulletin to the warranty claim.
• If the resistance value obtained by the sensor is correct, check the sensor
connector and perform a continuity test on the earth wire and the signal wire,
as well as a short-circuit test.
For information on the routing through the different connectors, see the table on
page 8 (routing table).
If the problem persists, adjust the sensor (reporting on sensor adjustment topic
below). It is likely that the sensor is located too close to or too far away from the
gear.
Sensor Checking
Check the correct resistance who must be 450 ohms +/- 20 ohms ignition off.
(Sensor disconnected, room temperature).
IMPORTANT: Check that the multimeter pins are correctly positioned on the sensor
connector to ensure good contact.
Sensor Adjustment
• Apply a little Loctite 5922 to the sensor thread.
• Manually screw the sensor in fully against the gear.
• Then unscrew it by 3/4 of a turn.
• Then tighten the counter-nut to approximately 6 Nm.
