Socratic method

The Socratic method is a form of questioning used in psychotherapy to help

individuals examine and challenge their own thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions.
Here are some examples of Socratic questions that psychologists may use in therapy:

1. What evidence do you have to support that thought/belief?

2. How do you know that's true?
3. What's the worst possible outcome if your belief were false?
4. Are there any alternative explanations for this situation?
5. What advice would you give to a friend in this situation?
6. What would be the consequences of acting on this belief?
7. Is there any evidence that contradicts this belief?
8. What's the likelihood of this worst-case scenario actually happening?
9. What might be a more helpful thought to have in this situation?
10. How would you feel if you didn't have this belief?
