January 2024 Exam Schedule Information (St.

Matthew High School)

Grade 9 Students: Please note that Grade 9 courses do not have final exams. Grade 9
students will finish regular instruction on Wednesday, January 24th and will continue
completing authentic assessments such as RSTs on January 25th, 26th, 29th and 30th.
Start time is 8:30 am until 10:30 am daily. Students are expected to return home after
their assessment.

For those grade 9 students currently taking math in Semester 1, the Math EQAO
will be written during the High School Exam Schedule as well. The start time is 8:30 am.
The end time will depend on the completion of part A and part B of the EQAO
assessment. This end time may vary from student to student. Most students will have
the EQAO assessment completed by 11:00 am.

Grade 10-12 Exams: The last day of regular classes for all students in Grades 10-12 is
Wednesday, January 24th. January 25th, 26th, 29th and 30th are exam days for
students taking Gr 10, 11 and 12 courses. Exams will be written in the students’ regular
classroom and all exams begin at 8:30 am. Students are expected to return home after
their examination.

E-Learning Exams
There will not be any formal, supervised exams for e-learning, rather, all final
exams/summative assessments will be completed by the student in the same way
they have completed assessments throughout the semester. Students taking
e-learning courses will receive information about their exam/summative assessment
directly from their e-learning teacher.

Inclement Weather (Snow Day/Bus Cancellations)

In the event of inclement weather or a snow day where yellow school bus transportation
is canceled, exam schedules at all OCSB schools for all students will be affected (not
just for yellow school bus riders). The exam scheduled for that day will be written the
following school day. All other exams will be bumped by one day. For example, if buses
are canceled on Thursday, January 25th due to inclement weather, then all period 1
exams will be moved to Friday, January 26th and all other exams would be pushed
ahead by one day. *Please see our website for up-to-date information in the event we
have a snow day on an exam day.

Credit Intervention Days for Grades 9-12

Thursday, February 1st has been designated as a Credit Intervention Day for all
students in Grades 9-12 who must complete course work or who were not successful
achieving their credit. Teachers will be contacting students and parents directly if they
have the opportunity to complete supplemental work on this day.
Please note, not all Grade 10-12 courses have a final exam.
