Read the passage carefully and choose the best answer to each question out of the four alternatives. Doing an
internship at the University of Lille in France, I almost always found myself stuck whenever I had to speak to
non-Indians about India or on anything 'Indian'. This was more because of the subtle differences in the way
the French understood India in comparison to what I thought was 'Indian'. For instance, when I, or any Indian
for that matter, say 'Hindi' is an Indian language, what it means is that it is one of the languages widely spoken
in India. This need not be similar to the understanding that the French would have when they hear of 'Hindi'
as an Indian language. Because for them Hindi then becomes the only language spoken in India. This is a
natural inference that the French, Germans, Italians and many other European nationals would tend to make,
because that is generally how it is in their own respective countries. The risk of such inappropriate
generalisations made about 'Indian' is not restricted to language alone but also for India's landscape, cuisine,
movies, music, climate, economic development and even political ideologies. The magnitude of diversity of
one European country can be easily compared to that of one of the Indian State, isn't it? Can they imagine
that India is one country whose diversity can be equated to that of the entire European continent? The onus is
upon us to go ahead and clarify the nuances in 'Indianness' while we converse. But why should one do so?
How does it even matter to clarify?
22. Why do some French people think that Hindi is the only Indian language?
A. Because that is the way in most European countries
B. That is what is being taught to them
C. They know India is also called as Hindustan so people there must speak only Hindi
D. As most Indians they meet speak Hindi
Ans - A
23. The writer was working at a university in which country?

B. Their complete lack of knowledge regarding India's past
C. That India is economically decades behind the developed world
D. Their inappropriate generalizations
Ans - D
25. The writer compares diversity of one European country to the diversity of ____________.
A. One major city in India
B. One Indian State
C. The whole continent of Asia
D. The whole world

A. 38
B. 34
C. 42
D. 46
Option C
Let us assume that two consecutive even numbers are P and P + 2.
According to given question,
(P + 2)2 – P2 = 84
⇒ P2 + 4P + 4 – P2 = 84
⇒ 4P = 84 – 4 = 80
⇒ P = 80/4 = 20
⇒ P + 2 = 20 + 2 = 22
∴ The required sum = 20 + 22 = 42

Correct Option: B
Given, LCM of two number = 2376
HCF of two number = 33
One of the number = 297

116x-86x-645000 = 750000
X = 3500, 7500 – 3500 = 4000
(3500*116)/100 – (4000*86)/100 = 620

water, so that the ratio of wine and water becomes 3 : 5. Find the initial quantity of wine in the mixture.
A. 24
B. 28
C. 24
D. 25
Option D
Let quantity of wine and water in the mixture is 5x and 3x respectively.
(5x – 16 * 5/8)/(3x – 16 * 3/8 + 16) = 3/5
5x – 10/3x – 6 + 16 = 3/5
5x – 10/3x + 10 = 3/5
25x – 50 = 9x + 30
16x = 80
x=5
quantity of wine in the initial mixture = 5 * 5 = 25 liter

70. Curved surface area of a cylinder is 2640 cm^2 and its height is 20cm. Find the volume of a cylinder.
A. 27720 cm^2
B. 4840 cm^2
C. 22350 cm^2
D. 32430 cm^2
Option A
C.S.A = 2640
2πrh = 2640
2 * 22/7 * r * 20 = 2640
r = 2640 * 7 / 44 * 20 = 21
volume = πr^2h = 22/7 * 21 * 21 * 20 = 27720 cm^2
