Then he asked himself the question “Why ‘re there so few pictures in the books and so much text!” Academy Stu Attar college, Uldis enrolled in the Art Academy of Latvia (Latujas Maksias Akademija) There, same as in college, emphasis vas placed on exercises, not on the understanding of how to create tho form. Each time Uldis croated a non sculoture, he made preparations, not only to arrange the frame and the edge, but also drew a small peper sketch where he could analyze the form in an understandable way Over the course of soveral years, ranings, skotchos, ‘anatomy books and successiul photographs were accrued Uidis began to netice, that the sketches he had created, as, ‘well as mages, were in high demand among colle2ques, He often heard the suggestion that he should collect them all end pubisn a book, whicn would be a composite of form analysis, as well as fundamental inforation about anatomy thet scuptors nould need to know. This was how Uldis came ‘up with the idea for the creation ofthe Book Kickstarter ‘Years went by and Ulds orested the website ‘anatomy4sc-dptors.com, a proportion calculstor, and Facebook page, where ne publishes anatomy reference images and his drawings. On the Facebook page, Uldis ‘engaged in conversatons and tested tne ways of explaining the humen anatomy, In the spring of 2012, with the help of friend Sandis Kondrots, 0 Kickstarter campaign was ‘organized, creating an international team, with whose Nelo iis cealized his dream of publishing the book, Anatomy for ‘Sculptors, During the project development phase, Sandis ‘and Uldis were joined by frends from Latvia, Sabina Grams ‘and Edgars Veoners, who contributed with thei expertise in Grephic Design and Photography Wh much help from ‘Sancis’ brother Janis Kendrats, ie were able to create @ unique subscription systom on the webstt te ongage and test the book's content with the project supporters. 4s English 15 @ second languege for Uld's and Sands, the assistance of editors anc proofteaders, Monke Haney and Jonennan Larsen, was indispensable Friendshios, created through the project win Chns Rewinson ena Sergio Alessandro Servllo, filed in the blanks with 3D scans and sculpt reference materials, The Shutterstock service, which supplied Uldis With a lt of greet artwork to buld on the books content, was ‘also a great help, Thanks to the fiends of the international ‘Sand sculpting community, witn whom Ulais and Sands had conversations about the book during ther travels over the couree ofthe year, which was a groat help in the book's development process. The support of the Seattle Latvian ‘community was very special while working on the project Aso, without the support and understanding of te families and friends of Ulcis and Sendis, this project would not have been possioie Finally the book has come into physical form after herd and passionate work over the course of 20 years, since Uldis ‘came up with the dream of creating such a book.
