WEEK 4: BLENDED LEARNING 1 – ROLE PLAY

GUIDELINES FOR LECTURERS

1. Students search for websites on ‘Language Functions and Expressions’ e.g.

social expressions, giving opinions, making suggestions, requests and offers,
responding, etc.

2. Students study and practise the language functions and expressions in

preparation for the role play assessment.

3. Students select one daily situation from a sample list provided by the lecturer.

4. Students submit a video of their recorded role play completed during the blended
learning week as evidence of learning.

5. The links below are some possible websites that lecturers can recommend to
students. Lecturers are free to suggest other websites to students.

Situation 1

You are at a fast-food restaurant. You go to the counter to place your order to the worker.

Situation 2

You are feeling sick. You go to a clinic to get medical advice from the doctor.

Situation 3

You are at the supermarket with your mother. You try to persuade your mother to buy your

favourite candy.

Situation 4

You are at a bus stop waiting for the bus. You feel bored because you have been waiting for a

long time. You start to create a conversation with the person sitting next to you.

Situation 5

You bumped into your childhood friend at the night market. You share your life updates with

him/her.

You and your friends are planning to go on a camping trip for 3 days. Discuss what you need for

that trip.

You are video calling your friends to share your plan for the weekend. Act out the situation.
