INTRODUCTION

This guide is to ensure that all suppliers, Quality development, Quality Department, SUD,
are using the same measurement criteria when measuring garments. There will be
exceptions to these guidelines which will be noted on measurement chart in the order
sheets.

Outlined below are measuring guidelines:

 All measurements should be taken with either a plastic or metal measuring tape.
Plastic measuring tape will stretch over time; these should be checked periodically
against a control precision measuring tape to ensure accuracy.

 All measurements are to be taken on garments laid flat, in a relaxed position, with
all wrinkles gently smoothed out. All measurements should be taken with buttons
and/or zippers fully closed unless otherwise indicated.

Definitions:
cb = center back
cf = center front
hsp = Highest Shoulder Point

D 1/2 hem Measure with closed garment, measure straight across from side to side (on the
inside).
G shoulder across Straight across from shoulder point to shoulder point.
G1 shoulder length Measure along shoulder excl. neck pipings.

(set-in) armhole.

Divide sleeve seam into 1/2 and measure at a right angle to center fold of sleeve.
L 1/2 sleeve opening Measure along sleeve opening (on the inside).
Dress
hip line from hsp indicates the position where "1/2 hip" s/b measured.
E 1/2 hip Measure straight at hip level from side to side.

Neck Details

F Neck width Measure from hsp to hsp. For collar, roll-neck and hood measure from seam to seam,
for binding measure inside from hsp to hsp.
F1 Front neck drop from hsp Measure from hsp (seam or natural shoulder fold) straight down vertically to top level
of deepest neck point at front.
F2 Back neck drop from hsp Measure from hsp (seam or natural shoulder fold) straight down vertically to top level
of deepest neck point at back.
F3 collar stand length with button + buttonhole : measure from middle of button to outer edge;
without buttonhole : measure from outer edge to outer edge.
F4 collar length outer edge Measure along outer edge of collar.
F5 collar height cb Measure collar at cb excl. collar stand
F6 collar stand height cb Measure collar stand at cb.
F7 collar height cf Measure pointed edge of collar.
F8 hood length Lay the hood flat -> Measure from point where the shoulder seam meets neckline
(raglan = natural shoulder fold) straight to top of hood.
F9 hood width Lay the hood flat -> Measure at widest point of hood.
F10 roll-neck length cb Measure straight from top edge / fold of roll-neck to bottom at cb.
F11 roll-neck opening lay the roll-neck flat top edge on top edge and measure straight at top edge of roll-
neck on the inside.
F15 head through minimum Measure neck opening minimum stretched --> see pictures how to measure.
