Archaebacteria
Organisms in Domain Archaea are
sometimes called “extremophiles,”
because they have evolved to be able to
live in very hot or very cold environments,
like in a hot spring or around the volcanic
black smokers deep in the ocean, or even
under the Arctic ice sheet.

Acidobacterium Chlorobium tepidum
Acidobacteria occur in diverse Chlorobium species grow in
habitats around the world. Their dense mats over hot springs

(up to 50%) suggest they play an other sulfide-rich waters, mud,
important ecological role and sediments.

leaves but the small 3 petaled
flowers are unlike those of true
water lilies. Below the water surface
is another major difference, the
plant is free floating and the roots Pseudotsuga menziesii
dangle beneath it. Douglas fir tree.
