3 Things to Try in the Sahara Desert

Located in North Africa, the Sahara is the world's largest hot desert,
covering an area that is similar in size to the United States. More and
more tourists are choosing to take vacations in desert locations, so
here are some fun things to do in one of the hottest places on Earth.

Try a Sand Bath

In the Moroccan village of Merzouga, you can try a sand bath. Visitors
to the desert camp can spend time relaxing while their whole body is
covered with warm sand. Local people believe that sand baths are
good for sore muscles and some skin diseases.

Surf's Up

Even though there is very little water in the Sahara, surfers can still
enjoy waves made of sand. Just like surfing or snowboarding, you can
ride a board across the sand. A great place to try sandboarding is the
Issaouane Sand Sea in Algeria. There, you can find dunes over 200
meters tall.

Take a Camel Ride

While there are also horses that can walk across the sand, it would be
a shame to leave the Sahara Desert without riding a camel. A fantastic
place to try camel riding is Erg Chebbi, only 30 kilometers from
Merzouga. Get on a camel and enjoy the beautiful mountains of sand
all the way to the Erg Chebbi camp.
