SIDE LETTER ADDRESSING COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS

1. This Side Letter will end May 8, 2023.

2. The purpose of this Side Letter is to establish a set of COVID Safety Protocols for the DSSO
based on CDC information.
3. On the Friday a week and a half prior to the next concert cycle of the DSSO, Management shall
determine the Community Level for St Louis County, MN on the CDC website and email the
appropriate Safety Protocol for that cycle to Musicians who have been hired.
a. Determinations dates include November 18, January 27, March 3, March 31, and April
21
4. Musicians may opt out of a concert cycle without negative consequences. It is recommended that
Musicians making this choice do so as soon as possible to allow time for Management to hire
replacements.
5. Protocols for the chorus will be sent to the Musicians for concerts involving a chorus.
6. The DSSO will continue to provide masks and tests for orchestra and chorus as needed.
7. When testing is required, testing for winds and brass will be on Wednesday and Friday. For Pops
concerts, testing will be on Friday.

ORCHESTRA PROTOCOLS

Community Level—LOW

Mask wearing will be welcome, but not required. Any musician who chooses to be unmasked will be
tested Wednesday and Friday, no matter the section. If you do not feel well, we ask that you get tested.

Community Level—MEDIUM

Mask wearing will be strongly recommended, but not required. The same protocols for LOW level will be
in place. Any musician who chooses to be unmasked will be tested Wednesday and Friday, no matter the
section. If you do not feel well, we ask that you get tested.

Community Level - HIGH

Mask wearing will be required by all musicians. Testing will be required for winds and brass on
Wednesday and Friday and Friday for Pops. If you do not feel well, we ask that you get tested.

Outside of the Side Letter, here are the recommendations for the upcoming December 3 Pops concert for
the chorus

CHORUS
At Community Level--LOW and Community Level—MEDIUM, the chorus will test on all service days,
be masked for rehearsals, unmasked for performances, and masked when not singing during
performances.
At Community Level—HIGH, the chorus will test on service days and remain masked for performances.
