Installation Procedures

Welcome to Landmark Software Manager

Welcome to the Landmark Software Manager (LSM). This simple-to-


install application provides access to Landmark software product
updates via electronic software download over the Internet. The LSM
allows you to:

• See all the latest releases and patches that are available for your
Landmark products.

• Obtain Landmark products faster after the release as CD


manufacturing time is eliminated.

• View release notes, readme files, and installation information


about the products before you download them.

• Download just the software you need, when you need it.

• Download all your product releases, patches, or updates to a


specified location in one easy step.

• Contact Landmark Customer Support for licenses or additional


assistance.

This guide helps you download and install the LSM in a variety of
operating systems, including Linux, Solaris, and Windows.

Requirements

Platform Requirements

Landmark Software Manager is a java-based application that runs on


any of the standard Release 5000.0.0 platforms. A description of the
platforms is below:


• Microsoft Products: 
For DecisionSpace and Select Landmark Classic Technologies
Microsoft Windows XP IA32 X86_64
and Microsoft Windows 2003 Server 
32-bit
Microsoft Windows XP X86_64
and Microsoft Windows 2003 Server
64-bit
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.0 — 64-bit
Note: This OS was built on Red Hat X86_64 — (Note: The supported platform is the x86_64
Enterprise Linux v4.4, but v5.0 will be architecture, but some applications will be built in a 32-bit for-
tested and evaluated as it is now avail- mat.)
able.
• Solaris:
For Landmark Classic Technologies Only
Sun Solaris 10 SPARC (Note: This supported platform is the SPARC64
64-bit architecture, but some applications will be built in a 32-bit for-
mat.)

Other Requirements

To download the Landmark Software Manager, you need one of the


following types of hardware:

• Personal computer with Intel Pentium/Xeon


• Sun Workstation
• Linux Workstation
• Windows-based Personal Computer or Mobile Workstation

In addition, to download the Landmark Software Manager, you need a


Landmark Support login ID and Password and Adobe Acrobat Reader
7.0 or above.

Terminology

Following are some terms that you may need to familiarize yourself
with before proceeding with the installation.

• Installation folder – This is the folder you have installed the Landmark Software
Manager to. For example the default installation folder would be
c:\Landmar\LSM5000.3.0.

• Proxy server – Server name or IP address where the Landmark Software


Manager will route your network traffic to.

• Proxy port – The port number where LSM will route your network traffic to.

• Lsm.properties file – The configuration file.

• Lsm.log file – The log file.

• Log4j.xml file – The configuration use by Landmark Software Manager to set


up logging.

• lsm.ws.validate.corp – The configuration where we can force the Landmark


Software Manager to check connection with the internal server.

• esd.ws.server – The configuration for an external server.

• esd.ws.corp.server – The configuration to an internal server.

• DNS server esd.halliburton.com – An external server.

• DNS server esd.corp.halliburton.com – An internal server.

Installation Process

The installation process for Linux, Solaris, and Windows systems are
basically the same.

New Install

If you have not previously downloaded the Landmark Software


Manager application, go to PeopleSoft and read Solution Document
Number 150523. This document contains the appropriate file(s) needed
for the installation.

Upgrade Install

If you have previously installed the Landmark Software Manager


application, open your current version of the Landmark Software
Manager application and download version 5000.0.3.1. If you have not
installed 5000.0.3.0 then the upgrade path is from 5000.0.0, 5000.0.1,
or 5000.0.2 to 5000.0.3.1.

While installing the application, the default directory for the 5000.0.3.1
version is Landmark\LSM5000.0.3.0 which is different from the
previous installations which were at Landmark\LSM. We suggest that
you do not write over your existing installation since it contains the
download history file. This file contains all the items that you have
downloaded in xml format. If you want to delete the previous version
of the Landmark Software Manger application, you can copy the
existing history file (Landmark\LSM\Landmark\history.xml) to another
directory for future reference.

Note:

If you have already installed Landmark Software Manger version 5000.0.3.0,


please install version 5000.0.3.1 immediately.

Installation

1. On a Windows-based system, double-click setup.exe or setup.bin


to begin the installation.
or
On a Linux-based system, in the bin directory, at the command line
type ./setup.bin; otherwise, type setup.bin

The Preparing to Install dialog, similar to the following, appears.


Next, the Landmark splash dialog, similar to the following,


appears.

An Introduction dialog,similar to the one below displays.

2. Click Next to continue.

The License Agreement dialog, similar to the following, appears.

3. Read the License Agreement and if you agree, click the radio
button that corresponds to “I accept the terms of the License
Agreement” and click Next to continue.

Note: If you do not accept the terms of the License Agreement,


you will not be able to proceed with the installation. You will only
be able to click the “Previous” or “Cancel” button.

The Choose Install Folder dialog, similar to the following,


appears.

4. Type the location where you want the Landmark Software


Manager to install and click Next to continue.

The Pre-installation dialog similar to the following appears:

If this information is correct, click Install to continue.

During the installation, a dialog with a progress bar, similar to the


following, appears.

Once the installation is complete, a dialog with a congratulatory


message, similar to the following, appears.

5. Click Done and the installation is complete.

For information on using the Landmark Software Manager, log on


to the Landmark Software Manager and refer to the Online Help.

Logon Procedure

Once the installation of the Landmark Software Manager is complete,


you are ready to log on and use the application.

• In Windows, the Landmark Software Manager installation wizard


installs an icon on your desktop. To access the application in
Windows, double-click the icon or click Start > All Programs >
Landmark > Landmark Software Manager.

• In Linux, enter:

cd<installdir>/LSM

./lsm.sh

Where <installdir> is the directory you specified during the installation


process.

If you need a proxy server to access the Internet, the Proxy Settings
dialog, similar to the following, appears. (The Proxy dialog only
appears when the system requires proxy settings.)

If you do not have the required information, contact your System


Administrator.

Note that a checkmark appears in the Proxy Required checkbox.

To specify the Proxy server:

1. Enter the Host Name.


This should be a fully-qualified server name (typically
<servername>.<company>.org or
<servername>.<domain>.<company>.org) or network address (of
the form XXX.XX.XX.XX).

2. Enter the Port Number.

3. If required, enter the proxy User Name and Password.

4. Click Save Proxy.

Note that you only need to enter this information the first time you start
the LSM on this computer, or if the proxy settings for this computer
change.

If the information is entered correctly, a Login dialog, similar to the


following, appears. If the entered information is incorrect, you will
receive an error message that reads “Unable to set Proxy: contact
administrator.

Note: When you select the company information from the drop-down
menu, on the Login dialog, it will include a company ID number.

To log in to the Landmark Software Manager:

1. Enter your PeopleSoft Login ID, password, and select the


company name.

2. Click Login.

A Welcome dialog, similar to the following, appears:

Note: The company ID number will appear at the top, on the left
of the Welcome dialog.

3. Click the Help button to view the Online Help and Release Notes.

4. Select your available downloads and start downloading your


Landmark products.

You can also edit your Proxy settings from this dialog by accessing
Tools > Preferences.
