The Legend of Bagong Dam

A long time ago, Trenggalek is famous because of its dry and arid land. When summer is
comming, there is no water any more. The farmers often fail to harvest.
The Farmer :”Mr... please help us. Our field is dry, there is no water to
irrigate. We can not grow anything. What should we eat? Our
family is starving.”

Masalah meniko dados perhatosane Adipati Menak Sopal. Panjenenganipun,

ngusahakaken reni-reni cara supados saget ngirangi masalah para warga.
Menak Sopal :”Poro kawula sedaya, kula gadah satunggal pemikiran.
Monggo kita sareng-sareng gotong royong ambangun Dam
sahinggo mangke saget ngirigasi sabin kita sedaya.“

All of people build the Dam together. But the case, the Dam damaged although it was
repaired many times. One night, Menak Sopal got a whisper that a white crocodile
destroyed their Dam because he wanted a sacrifice.
White crocodile :” Ha ha ha ha....Give me a white elephant for sacrifice and I
would not destroy the Dam. Ha ha ha ha......”
Menak Sopal :” Okay I will find a white elepanth. But, keep your promise.”

Menak Sopal lajeng pados warta sinten mawon ingkang kagungan gajah putih.
Sawijining dinten panjenengane mireng menawi si Mbok Rondo Krandon saking
Ponorogo anggadhahi. Lajeng Adipati Menak Sopal enggal-enggal manggihi.
Menak Sopal :”Nuwun sewu Mbok, kulo badhe ngampil gajah putih
gadahane sampean.”
Mbok Rondo Krandon :”Sejatosipun kula ajrih menawi si gajah putih wonten napa-
napa Adipati.”
Menak Sopal :”Kula namung ngampil antawis tigang dinten Mbok, mengke
lajeng kula wangsulaken. “
Mbok Rondo Krandon :” Menawi panjenengan maringi jaminan, monggo kula
serahaken gajah putih menika.”

Next the white elephant brought to Trenggalek for sacrifice. But Mbok Rondo Krandon
didn’t know about it. She always wait her white elephant day by day.
Pungkasanipun, Mbok Rondo Krandon mangetos menawi engkang kinasih dipun
dadosaken tumbal. Panjenengane ikhlas lan lila kagem kemakmuran para warga
Leres nyatanipun mantun diparingi sesajen, Dam mboten nate risak.
The dam is sturdy and strong until now
