A. Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the integration of social science
perspective and community action initiatives.
B. Performance Standards: The learners shall be able to synthesize the integrative experience of
implementing community-action initiatives applying social sciences ‘ideas and methods.
C. Learning Competencies/Objectives: Explain the importance of studying community dynamics and
community action in relation to applied social sciences and the learners ‘future career options.

A. Presenting the new lesson Short introduction about the subject

 Introduce learners to the different ways of understanding


communities and community life
 It focuses on community action initiatives such as community
engagement, solidarity and citizenship.
B. Establishing a purpose for the Video Clip
lesson
The teacher will turn on a five-minute video clip then the students will
discuss what they have seen in the video.

means fellowship

Why do we need to understand community?

To realize that we are part of a larger social group


To appreciate the value of the meaningful actions and contributions
that we impart to our community.

The main difference between society and community is that the


society is built upon interactions with varied people whereas the
community is the collection of people with similar interests,
especially residing in one geographic place.
 In as much as a group of individuals is necessary for the existence of
both a society and a community.

Make an illustrated map that describes your local community. Include in


your map the photos and images that represent the people in your
community. Draw arrows, lines, and symbols to show the relationship
between the people in your community.

of teaching methods including video clip presentation and pictures to catch their attention.
