Text: The importance of the English language


A/- Text presentation
The text that we study is entitled “the importance of the English language”. It is posted by SABN, an
English teacher in Jeddah. The source of the text is WWW.usingenglish.com and the date of issue is April 24
2008. The text is about the importance of the English language in the world.
B/- Text Summary
We can divide the text into three parts. The first part goes from line 1down to line 4. It deals with the
widespread of English.
The second part goes from line 5 down to line 8. It deals with the usage of English.
The third part goes from line 9 down to line 11. It deals with how to learn English.
C/- Text Comprehension
Today, English is an international language. It is the first language in the world. In many countries,
English is the mother tongue. In other countries, people learn English as a second language in schools. English is
the language of communication around the world. People use it in commerce, computers, medicine, aviation,
tourism, travel, and diplomacy. For all these reasons, people learn English. Nowadays, it is easy to learn English.
The sources to learn English are Internet, books and educational institutes.

D/- Text Evaluation


In my opinion, this text is very interesting because it shows us the importance of the English language.
It also shows how we can rapidly and easily learn English.

an anonymous text and the date of issue is January 2023. The text is about the benefits of drinking water

We can divide the text into two parts. The first part goes from line 1down to line 8. It deals with
drinking water and living healthier and longer.
The second part goes from line 9 down to line 16. It deals with the investigations of the researchers.
C/- Text Comprehension
Without water, life is impossible on earth. Plants, animals and humans depend on water. People who
regularly drink water are healthier and they live longer. These people avoid health problems and illnesses like
heart and lung diseases. But people who don’t drink enough die in younger age and show signs of ageing.
The researchers compared information of 11.255 adults over a period of 30 years. They investigated
on them for the first time when they were in their 50 and later when they were between 70 and 90. The results
show that hydration slows ageing and protect against diseases. The researchers encourage us to consume 1.5 liter
of water per day, by drinking more fluids like water, juice or fruits.

I think that this text is educative. It teaches us the importance of water for our life and our health. We
understand that if we want to live longer and healthier, we must drink enough water every day.

is an anonymous text and the date of issue is July 30th 2019. The text is about the young people in UK who don’t
watch TV news.

We can divide the text into two parts. The first part goes from line 1down to line 8. It deals with the
lack of interest to TV news by young people in UK .
The second part goes from line 9 down to line 16. It deals with the social media as the firs source of
information for young people in UK.
C/- Text Comprehension
In UK, young people don’t watch TV news because They are addicted to their smartphones. They prefer
distractions on You tube, social media and games. Young people read news on graffiti in bus stations. They
spend only two minutes per day watching TV. The best source of information for the young people is Internet.
