Paper Review Guidelines:

1. General guidelines: Presentation to be conducted on Thursday, 21st December between 11 –


1 pm. Each group to come forward and present. Presenter would be randomly chosen by me
and questions from the audience would be taken by the presenter who may be supported by
the remaining members in the group during the Q&A.

2. Review specific guidelines:

 Introduction:
1. Title and Authors:
a. Begin your review by providing the full title of the paper and the
names of the authors.
2. Brief Summary:
a. Summarize the main objective of the paper in a few sentences.
b. Include the key findings and contributions of the study.
 Critical Evaluation:

a. Assess the overall clarity and organization of the paper.
b. Comment on the structure of the paper – whether it follows a logical
sequence.
 Abstract:
a. Evaluate the abstract for its clarity and its ability to provide a concise
overview of the paper.
 Introduction:
a. Comment on the effectiveness of the introduction in setting the
context and explaining the significance of the research.
 Methodology:
a. Evaluate the appropriateness and rigor of the methodology used.
b. Assess whether the methodology is well-described and can be
replicated.
 Results:
a. Analyse the presentation of results – are they clear, well-organized,
and supported by appropriate figures or tables?
 Discussion:
a. Evaluate the interpretation of results in the discussion section.
b. Assess whether the authors relate their findings to existing literature
and theories.
 Critical Analysis:
a. Strengths: Identify the strengths of the paper, such as innovative
methods, robust analysis, or significant contributions to the field.
b. Weaknesses: Highlight any weaknesses in the study – be it
methodological flaws, limitations, or areas that require clarification.
c. Critical Thinking: Demonstrate your critical thinking skills by offering
constructive suggestions for improvement.

 Conclusion:
a. Summarize your overall assessment of the paper.
b. Provide recommendations for further research or improvements.
 Writing Style and Language:
a. Writing Style:
- Comment on the clarity and conciseness of the writing.
- Identify any grammatical or typographical errors.
b. Language:
- Assess whether the language is appropriate for the target
audience.
- Suggest improvements for clarity or better expression.
 Final Thoughts:
 Overall Impression:
a. Offer your overall impression of the paper – its strengths,
weaknesses, and potential impact on the field.
 Recommendation:
a. Conclude with a recommendation regarding the publication of the
paper.

Note: Remember to provide specific examples or quotes from the paper to support your points and
to maintain a respectful tone even when criticizing aspects of the paper. Please be thorough,
objective, and fair in their evaluations.
