History of Lower Silesia

Region of lower Silesia was settled in V century by Slavic settlers. In X century Lower Silesia was incorporated to new
created polish country. Current biggest city is Wroclaw, created by polish people in X century. In year 1000 in
Wroclaw was created a bishopric. Next in XI century region was conquered by Bohemians (current Czech’s). The
region was not under direct control of Bohemians but controlled by 3 duchies: Duchy of Wroclaw, Glogow, Opole.
Next in XV and XVI century Bohemia become a personal union of Austria. At the end of XVI century bohemia was
integrated to Austria. Next in 1742-1763 in the region there were three Silesian War. Their consequences were the
annexation of Silesia to Prussia, then to German Empire. During this time, the region was significantly industrialized
and developed. Next in 1945 region was incorporated to polish country, and it is in it to this day.
