Intended readers
This manual is intended for all people involved with the instrument. For safety reasons, readers are divided into
four categories based on their expertise and experience.
⚫ Operators
People who operate the instrument on a regular basis. Operators should not attempt maintenance of the
instrument that requires expert skills. Accordingly, disassembly of the instrument by an operator is not
permitted.
Operators should read this manual carefully and ensure they understand the instrument’s features and operation
before using it.
⚫ Maintenance personnel
People authorized to undertake installation, basic troubleshooting, and periodic inspections as well as to operate
the instrument.
Maintenance personnel require knowledge of the instrument and the technologies used. Also, maintenance
personnel should read this manual carefully and ensure they understand the instrument’s features and operation
before undertaking any work.
⚫ Supervisors
Supervisors require a good knowledge of the instrument and the technologies used.
In addition to the administration of the instrument, supervisors are also expected to supervise its use in practice.
⚫ Service engineers
People who undertake work that requires special knowledge and skills, including instrument installation, fault-
finding and repair, and overhauls.
As a general rule, service engineering (work undertaken by service engineers) is performed by Techno Medica
staff.

Precautions for use
Improper handling may not only damage the instrument itself but also cause fire or injury.
Read the following precautions carefully and follow the instructions.

If the power plug blades or facing are dirty, turn off the
power, unplug, and clean using a soft cloth.
Dirt can cause electric shocks or fire.
If the instrument will not be used for a long period of time,
disconnect the power cable from the outlet and store in a
place free from dirt and dust.

the display, display arm, or instrument edges.

Notes on use
To prevent damage to the instrument or equipment malfunctions, do not use the instrument in any of the
following locations:
⚫ Direct sunlight
⚫ Temperatures less than 5°C
⚫ Temperatures higher than 35°C or near objects that generate heat
⚫ Places subject to frequent fluctuations in temperature
⚫ Humidity or dirt and dust
⚫ Places exposed to rain or other moisture
⚫ Places exposed to chemicals or corrosive gas
⚫ Near magnets, speakers, or other equipment that generates a magnetic field
Observe the instructions below to prevent damage to the instrument or equipment malfunctions:
⚫ To avoid radio interference, do not place the instrument near televisions, radios, or their antennas. Always
plug into a different electrical outlet.
⚫ Do not hit or shake the instrument. Shocks to the instrument can result in degraded performance or
equipment malfunctions.
⚫ Use care when inserting and removing the drawer.
Handling the drawer roughly can result in degraded performance or equipment malfunctions.
⚫ When cleaning the outside of the instrument, do not use chemicals such as benzene or thinner or a cloth
dampened with such chemicals.
Doing so can result in degradation of quality, malformation, or discoloration. Always use a dry, soft cloth.

1. OUTLINE
1.1 Outline
Developed by Techno Medica, BC・ROBO© 7 is an automated system for selecting and labeling blood
collection tubes based on LIS or HIS orders. The instrument produces kits with the correct tubes and barcode
labels along with a work list. BC・ROBO© 7 guarantees an error free workflow across all processes, delivering
higher quality and better lab safety.

2. INSTALLATION
2.1 Unpacking
Check that the items below are present when unpacking.
CAUTION
When unpacking, always wear safe clothes, gloves and shoes.
Injuries can occur.

2.2 Installation space requirements
The figure below shows the minimum space required for installation (to allow maintenance access).

2.3 Connecting the cables
WARNING
Do not connect the cables if your hands are wet.
Electric shocks can occur.
If water gets on the instrument, do not power on until dry. If the table on which it is located
is wet, power off the instrument, wipe up the water, and allow time to dry.
Electric shocks can occur if the instrument is operated when it or the table is wet.
CAUTION
Bump hazard.
Do not stand up or turn around abruptly near the instrument. Injuries can occur if you collide
with the display arm.
Take care with internal metal parts when connecting cables.
Touching metal parts other than those involved in the work can result in injury.

3. OPERATION
3.1 Loading tubes

Ensure the empty tray fits correctly into the holder. If not, the tray may not be detected.

bands) on the instrument.

5. The label roll rotates automatically once the
end of the label is detected by the sensor. This
feeds the label sheet through the printer.

has a straight edge. Remove twenty (20)
labels from the sheet.

5. CLEANING
To maintain proper operation, always keep the instrument clean.
WARNING
Turn the power off when cleaning.

Take care when opening or closing the covers.

When closing the printer unit cover, ensure that it locks into place.
Malfunction can occur.
Keep your hands clear when closing the supply unit cover, front cover, or printer unit cover.
Hands can be caught resulting in injury.

5.2 Printer unit
Recommended practice is to clean both printers (label printer and manual label printer) when replacing labels or
dealing with jams or other problems.
If cleaning is not done when replacing labels, instead perform cleaning once per week.

6. QUICK TROUBLESHOOTING
6.1 Tube jams
CAUTION
When opening or closing the label roll unit or clearing jams, be careful not to touch the
surrounding metal parts.
Injuries can occur.
Ensure that you close covers secuely after clearing a jam.
