Proposal: discuss plans for the International Day of Action on 15 Oct. Deferred to Direct Action report. 5 minutes added to proposal time Proposal: establish a welcome table. Working with Direct Action on the Wells Fargo action for 15 Oct. A pep rally will be held from 11:00 12:00 A meet and greet will commence at 11:45 At 12:00, the group will march on Wells Fargo At 1:00, a workshop will be held on closing bank accounts -how, why, and testimonials Activities are being planned for 12:30 each day on the plaza These activities will be repeated after GA each evening Discussion Presentation of revised mission statement: The Discussion Working Group is a venue for all of the individuals of our movement to bring forth their opinions, ideas, and grievances. Please post your thoughts on the Discussion Forum via TeamLab or attend a Discussion Working Group meeting (held 2 hours before every GA, at the same location as the GA), and we will formulate them into concise and coherent proposals for the General Assemblys consideration. GA passed consensus on this revised mission. Presentation of revised public statement: A Message from Occupy Gainesville Occupy Gainesville is about engaging the people of our community in grassroots, participatory democracy. We are about diversity and dialogue. We stand in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street Movement and the rest of the people peacefully occupying public space across this country and the rest of the world. This is about collectively awakening to the way we live, and consciously choosing a better way. This is about transforming the values that are the foundation of our society. This is about economic, social, and environmental justice, at the local, national, and global level. We can all envision a more perfect society, and dream of a better world for future generations. The realization of this dream is what this movement is about. Come join us! (5 minutes added to working group reports)

The proposed statement passed consensus. It will be distributed on flyers, in both English and Spanish, on 15 Oct. The Discussion group will hold meetings 2 hours before each GA. They will meet wherever GA is scheduled to convene that day. Media Media team scooped the mainstream media by covering last nights arrests live. Thank you to everyone who helped with this. The event was covered locally (Alligator), internationally (UK Guardian), Southwest Florida media outlets, and on NPR Viewership of OG media continues to grow. Help neededif youre interested, please come to Bo Diddley Plaza at 5:30 in 15 Oct. A workshop for dealing with the mainstream media will be held on 15 Oct. An official media team statement is in progress. (5 minutes added to working group discussion; the discussion shifted focus to a discussion of process, and another 2 minutes were added for this discussion. Amber was selected to facilitate the rest of the meeting.) Proposal: allow media team autonomy for objective press releases, in the interest of timely dissemination of planned activities. GA approved. There are unconfirmed reports that representatives from Occupy Tampa, St. Pete, and Jacksonville may be visiting GGA. Secretarial We have three new members. Well be meeting on 15 Oct for orientation and brainstorming. The sec team thanks everyone for all their support and encouragement. Food & Comfort Food donations, and a local kitchen, have been obtained. Call for volunteers to help satisfy mainstream press interest during the day. If you can, please show up between 9:00 1:00 Local volunteers have come forward to secure food for the committee. Direct Action Next meeting will be at 2:00 PM on 16 Oct. Announcements Speak Out will converge on city hall at 5:00 PM on 15 October. Individuals will make testimonials, air grievances, etc. Candi Churchill will be coordinating the event. Pat is seeking to organize action regarding: -city plans to implement a policy whereby the homeless will need written police permission to eat lunch at St. Francis House. -the community redevelopment act, which will benefit the four major developers in Gainesville -the costly conversion of Lynch Park into a dog park (and the removal of the homeless from the park) OWS donation coordinators have offered to help OG manage our donations Chris Sholtz will coordinate with Donations and Food& Comfort Hadi suggested that we find a specific target for our actions and statements On 15 Oct, 1 hour before GA, Lars will conduct a detailed overview of the consensus process At 4:00 on 15 Oct, at the Lunch Box near the plaza, some local bands will hold a concert of 99% Jams Pat and Katie have invited speakers for their Grow Radio program, Protest Inc. At 2:30 on 16 Oct., Education and Empowerment will meet to discuss educational programs Please use TeamLab and the on-site Event Board to publicize meetings and events Take initiative with action!
