A music review

I'm pretty sure, when you hear the terms, singer-songwriter (kantautor) and Panonian sailor, your first
association is Đorđr Balašević. His name is a brand. Đorđr Balašević is an artist without competition, his
work is a special kind of art.
The songs are colored by a powerful emotion and there is a skill to transfer the emotional weight. Those
characteristics set him apart from the rest singers. Many've sung about love, however Đole has a thousand
and one words to describe it. On top of that, love is not the only topic, he talks about politics, wars,
family, friendship...in fact, the inspiration is a life, the life of an ordinary person who looks on the world
around him. A specific part of his art is Vojvodina, which is woven (utkana) into every strophe and verse
through a slow rhythm, romance and lot of archaic expressions.
In other hand, he is a forerunner of the stand up comedy. Althoug the funs come to a concert because the
songs, they are there and because the good fun and lot of laughter. Many funny stories about his family
and others, are an integral part of his performans.
In the world, where is missing beauty but megalomania is dominating, where the values of ordinary life is
neglected, he is standing like an island for the rest of soul. Therefore, go there to hear the man who tells
us most beautiful stories about ourselves.
