Teacher’s Activity Learners’ Activity

A. Warm-Up
Assalamu’alaykum and good Wa Alaikumissalam and good day
day class! teacher!
How are we today class? Were fine teacher, as always.
That is good to hear.
By the way class, I am Abdul
Haqq Disangcopan
Marohombsar, you can call me
teacher Haqq. I will be your
math teacher for this afternoon
class.
Before we officially start this
afternoon class, kindly stand up
so we can pray. (Students pray together aloud)
Alhamdulillah. Now, before you
sit, please pick up the pieces of
trash around your seats. Arrange
your chairs accordingly and sit
properly. (Students pick up the trash around
their seats and arranged themselves to
sit)
Very good. Is anyone absent this No one is absent this afternoon
afternoon? teacher Haqq.
Of course, everyone is present
today. Very good class.
Again, let us be reminded of our
classroom rules. First, listen
attentively when your teacher is
discussing in front. Second, raise
your right hand if you have any
questions or clarifications. Third,
avoid making any kind of noise
when your teacher is discussing.
Fourth, always observe
cleanliness inside the classroom;
and lastly, respect your teacher
as well as your classmates. Are
we clear class? All clear teacher Haqq.
B. Review
Now class, before we formally
begin with our lesson this
afternoon, can you recall what
we have discussed last
meeting? (A student raises his/her right hand) Yes
teacher Haqq, last meeting we have
discussed about Plane Figures.
Yes, Plane Figures. Very good.
What is Plane Figure again? (A student raises his/her right hand) It is
a shape with flat surface teacher
Haqq.
Yes. What are the examples of (A student raises his/her right hand)
plane figures? Teacher Haqq, we have Square,
Rectangle, Circle, and Triangle.
Very good. Those are the
examples of plane figures which
we have discussed last meeting.
C. Motivational Activity
Now class, I have here some
stuffs that I will be showing you.
Your task is to tell me what
shapes or figures are these.
Understood class? Yes, teacher Haqq.
First stuff, tell me what shape or
figure is this? (A student raises his/her right hand)
Teacher Haqq, that is a cone.
Very good, how about the
second one? What shape or (A student raises his/her right hand)
figure is this? Teacher Haqq, that is a pyramid.
That is right, now the third one? (A student raises his/her right hand)
What shape or figure is this? Teacher Haqq, that is a ball.
How about the last one? Teacher Haqq, it is a box.
So, class what do we call these
shapes or figures? Anyone? (Class answers in chorus)
So, you already have an idea of
what we are going to talk about
this afternoon? (Class answers in chorus)
D. Unlocking of Difficulties
These stuffs that you have
identified are what we call Solid
Figures. As you have seen, we
have a cornetto with a figure of
Cone. We have seen a tent with
a figure of Pyramid, a box with a
figure of Rectangular Prism and
a ball with a figure of Sphere.
These are some examples of
solid figures which we are going
to discuss this afternoon.
E. Lesson Proper
This afternoon, we are going to
talk about Volume of Solid
Figures. Within this lesson, of
course you are expected to
derive the formula for finding the
volume of cylinders, pyramids,
cones and spheres. You are also
expected to find the volume of
a cylinder, pyramid, cone and
sphere. Lastly, you are expected
to solve word problems involving
volume of solids.
Are we clear class? All clear teacher Haqq.
Okay then, first and foremost, let
us define what is volume. Can
anyone read what is volume? (A student raises his/her right hand)
Volume is the amount of space inside
a solid figure. It is measured in cubic
meters.
Yes, accordingly, it is the
amount of space inside a solid
figure. As we can observe from
one solid figure, all the space
inside it is what we call volume.
It is measured in cubic meters.
Now, we have here the
examples of solid figures, the
rectangular prism, cylinder,
cone, pyramid and sphere. The
question is, how do we identify
or how do we find the volume of
these solid figures? Anyone? (A student raises his/her right hand)
teacher Haqq, we look for the formula
of solving the volume.
That is right, very good. So, in
finding the volume of solid
figures, first we have to identify
the formula to be used.
Let us have the first solid figure,
Rectangular Prism. The formula
for getting the volume of a
rectangular prism is LWH (Length
x Width x Height). When we say
length, it means how long the
figure is. When we talk about
width, it describes how wide the
figure is, while height means
how tall the figure is. Understood
class? Understood teacher Haqq.
Very well. So, the formula for the
second one, pyramid is 1/3 LWH.
We can say that the volume of a
pyramid is 1/3 the volume of
rectangular prism. Did you get it
class? Yes, teacher Haqq, we get it.
Very good. Now, the formula for
getting the volume of a cylinder
is 𝜋𝑟 ℎ. Always remember that
the constant value of
𝜋 𝑖𝑠 3.14. Am I clear class? Yes, teacher Haqq, all are clear.
Okay, moving on. Let us have
the formula for getting the
volume of a cone. Volume of a
cone is equals to 𝜋𝑟 ℎ/3. We can
say that the volume of a
pyramid is equivalent to 1/3 the
volume of a cylinder. Class, are
you following me? Yes, teacher Haqq, we follow.
Okay, good. Now in order to get
the volume of a sphere, we
have the formula 4𝜋𝑟 /3. Class,
did you get the formulas on how
to find the volume of solid
figures? Yes, teacher Haqq. We get all the
formulas in getting the volume of solid
figures.
Very good class. Now, let us try
to solve some word problems
related to the volume of solid
figures. I have here a raffle box
with scrambled word problems. I
want some of you to pick a
piece of paper from this box
and solve the problem
according to the formulas given.
Are you ready class? Yes, teacher Haqq, we are ready.
Okay, kindly pick a piece of
paper from this box and read it
aloud. Then, based on the (A student picks a piece of paper and
formulas given, can you solve solves the problem writing on the white
the problem. board)
F. Enrichment Activity
Now class, I will divide you into 5
groups. Each group shall choose
one solid figure to create using
the materials provided. After
making a solid figure, each
group shall construct a word
problem and solve it according
to the given formula of the
chosen solid figure.
Did you get the instruction class? Yes, teacher Haqq.
Very well, you may now start (Students group themselves and
making a solid figure. participated in the activity)
At the count of 10, I will be
collecting your output, finished
or unfinished. (Students pass their work)
G. Generalization
Again class, what are the Teacher Haqq, we have the
examples of a solid figure? rectangular prism, pyramid, cylinder,
cone and sphere.
Very good. What do we mean It is the amount of space inside a solid
by volume? figure. It is measured in cubic meters.
Okay, how do we get the We have to follow the formulas in order
volume of the solid figures? to get the volume of the solid figures.
Alhamdulillah, very good class.
Let us give a round of applause
to ourselves for we all
understood this afternoon
discussion. (Students clap their hands)

V. Evaluation
Quiz: Answer the following word problems below.
1. Find the volume of a cylinder with radius 2 cm and height 3 cm (Take
𝜋 = 3.14).
2. Find the volume of a sphere which has a radius of 9 cm. (Give the
answer in terms of 𝜋)
VI. Assignment
Instruction: On your assignment notebook, answer the following word
problems below according to their formula.
1. A cone has a radius of 4 cm and a height of 8 cm. What is the
volume?
2. What is the volume of a cylindrical pitcher if it is 20 cm high and its
radius is 6 cm?
3. What is the volume of the ball if it’s radius is 3mm?
4. A pyramid is 3 m by 3 m at the base and 2 m high. How much air can
it contain?
5. Find the volume of a rectangular prism with length of 6 cm, a width
of 2 cm and a height of 4 cm.
