DevNet Associate (DEVASC)

Release Notes

Purpose
The Cisco DevNet Associate (DEVASC) course is designed for people who want to
learn the knowledge and skills they need to work in network programming and
automation. In addition to learning basic coding and networking concepts, learners will
create REST API requests over HTTPS to securely integrate services.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Use basic Python programming and Linux skills.
• Implement a development environment using DevNet resources.
• Use software development and design best practices.
• Create REST API requests over HTTPS to securely integrate services.
• Explain the processes and devices that support network connectivity.
• Use current technologies to deploy and secure applications and data in a cloud
environment.
• Compare software testing and deployment methods in automation and
simulation environments.
• Compare Cisco platforms used for collaboration, infrastructure management,
and automation.
This course contains numerous opportunities for practicing and assessing student
skills through various types of assessments, labs and Packet Tracer activities.
These notes provide detailed information about this release, including curriculum
content, known issues, and support information.
This 70-hour, instructor-led course includes videos, labs, Packet Tracer activities,
Module Quizzes, Module Exams, a Skills Assessment Lab and Final Exams.

Most of the DEVASC labs require only 1 PC with the operating system
of choice, Virtual Box or VMWare, and the DEVASC or CSR1000V
Virtual Machine.
Packet Tracer Activities 5 Packet Tracer activities
The DEVASC Packet Tracer activities use Packet Tracer Network
Automation Edition, which comes pre-installed on the DEVASC Virtual
Machine. These activities are designed for skills exploration,
acquisition, reinforcement and expansion.
Module Quizzes 8
Self-assessments that integrate concepts and skills learned
throughout the series of topics presented in the module.
Module Exams 8
These assessment provide learners the opportunity to apply and
validate knowledge learned throughout the course.
Practice Final 1
Unsecured. Not Dynamic.
Secure, Dynamic Final 1 Dynamic Final Exam with Secured Activation
Exam Variables in the design of the exam allows an instructor to administer
unique exams to each student and assess each student’s learning
individually. With Secured Activation, individual assessment item
preview and review is disabled to improve validity and security of this
summative assessment. Instructors are provided with a visual
summary view of how students performed against the competencies
outlined for the course.

Skills Assessment Lab 1
End-of-Course Feedback 1 end-of-course survey to provide feedback for the course.

Caveats
English Spelling American-English spellings are interspersed in the text of the modules.
Closed Captions Use the external video link if you are having issues with the embedded
videos.
Packet Tracer The DEVASC Packet Tracer activities use Packet Tracer Network
Program Automation Edition, which comes pre-installed on the DEVASC Virtual
Machine.
